Lance Briggs?
 

Man, it's dead around these parts today.

Who would you, if anyone, trade to the Bears for Lance Briggs?

Deuce - The aging superstar, face of the franchise. He's without a doubt my favorite player in the NFL, but I figure he's got 3-maybe-4 quality years left, plus Reggie's not playing second fiddle much longer and Pittman could turn out to be a good complementary back.

Reggie - He's the new Golden Boy of the NFL and with all that talent and marketability, there's a good chance he decides to bolt to a big market in a few years. Maybe you cash him in now for Briggs and a high 08 draft pick?

Colston and Pick(s) - The Team has already turned a profit on the seventh rounder. Maybe you sell high and package him with some late-round draft picks.

Meachum and Pick - The much maligned yet talented rookie, if packaged with 1st rounder next year, might get Chicago's ear.

I agree Deuce is definitely one of my personal faves
Reggie may or may not opt for a bigger venue and Colston has definitely proven himself
I personally can't decide
I mean on one hand he is one hell LB
But to get him I'm sure we would have to give up someone of high profile like you listed above

Right now I don't like any of those options. I don't want to trade a player that they would want. I would say we trade a first rounder or a few mid rounders. Trades for picks are NOT providing the value they once did. Unless you trade with the Houston Texans, don't expect to get much in the way of picks. Players maybe, but not picks.

Sorry, I'm not interested in Briggs at all. He comes with a hefty price tag and though I think he's a good linebacker, the system they have there in Chicago as a lot to do with his success. Playing in front of that frontline and next to Urlacher certainly helped a great deal also. If I were him, I would smarten up and take that guaranteed money they're offering/willing to offer. I hope he doesn't go that Trotter/Archuleta route... leave a place where you're making good money and having a lot of success for more money that you'll never see once you've been exposed. The same can be said of Ed Hartwell and Jamie Sharper... two of my once favorite linebackers.

not interested,enough problems keeping our nucleus over next few years.all who seem to be ready to write duece off in a couple of years,think of players like marcus allen,walter payton,emmit smith,the " bus ";these players shined well into their mid-30's.i think duece is same mold.

Briggs might be a little overrated - I think the Saints could find a more cost-effective solution. He's certainly not worth mortgaging our offense.

No interest in trading any players. We could offer picks for Briggs, if Benson would like to write a fat bonus check. We could also trade up for a top tier LB prospect in the draft. Drafting a DT would allow us to seek a better mid-priced FA OLB than Shanle. I'd take the cheaper options, and keep our core players happy.

I don't see why Meachem is maligned at all.

I was referring to him coming to camp out of shape then getting hurt and not really seeing any practice time this offseason.

Understood. Many in forums are downing him. Colston also came with some extra pounds,and we were aware of Meachem's knee condition before the draft. Holt just had the same surgery, and should be ready for PS games. I'm not directing this to you.

Zero interest in Briggs.

Our LB's improved throughout last year and were great by the end of the year. Then we add a starter and some depth. Then we improve our defensive backfield, which makes the entire front 7 better.

I don't think he is needed or worth the money.
