Everyone's got an opinion. He wasn't that far off on a lot of things. Most of the article was pretty complimentary actually.

With that said, I too hope he eats his words

I should have read: "We'll see game one if this defense is good to put this team on par with AFC powers like Indianapolis..."

It's our first game and one of our biggest challenges. If we can start the season beating the Super Bowl champions then our D proved something. Then again Indy's D was the worst in years to win a SB, so who needs a top ten D when you've got the best O in the league?

I posted an article about how "offense wins championships" in the NFL these days. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...ohn&id=2910089) it's a pretty interesting take.

I don't know it has been said many times over you have to have a solid "D" to put away a power house offence but even that will only get you half way there to getting a “W” at the end of the day

But lets get serous…
we all know the saints have a power house offence
but I think these idiots are overlooking one thing
last season this defensive unit really came together,

personally I’m glad that all of them are underestimating us and I have faith that come game day they will bring the pain and not just because I have always had faith but because they proved last season that they can pull it off

one last thought on this I personally can't wait to see our Defensive linemen sitting on their QB's chest

the only thing he forgot to mention about the saints was,
they were one game away from the superbowl and while i agree the defense may not be elite they don't have to be.
they just have to be good enough to win....
i did not think the colts defense was elite and they won the s.b.

I think the article is pretty accurate and thats why I say "Beware of the Saint's Defense". Everyone is all about the offense and the "D" is getting little or no love from the media. But I like what I see in our defensive personnel. We have enough quality across the board that the constant rotation off fresh bodys in the d-line, lb's and secondary and constant pressure from the de's. The offense came together last year and the defense maintained. I look for the defense to step up big time this year and make a statement about being overlooked. We have no real "star" guys on defense but we have 11 guys who play as a team and will begin to wear you down. I kinda like that. The "D" will rise this season!!!!! Go Saints!!!!!!!!!! AND YEAH HE WILL EAT HIS WORDS.

yea the D was ranked pretty well...i believe pass defense was 3rd in the league suprisingly.

and notice where this guy is from, he WAS a scout for the browns, HAH...and he did some work in pittsburgh...i call wanker!

defense was elite. ssmitty - an understatement man. The Colts got away with it last year. Will be much tougher this year if New England's offense breaks loose.

I reckon Saints D could step up big time this year. Think about it. The big plays hurt us, not consistent plays

this guy is an idiot...how does espn employ a writer that doesn't realize that the saints had the 14th best defense...he makes the saints' defense seem like it finished in last place...

come on espn...you can do better than this joker

He just said alot of good and bad things about the team, which can be said about every team.
