Couch For Backup Comp.
Tim Couch Is Looking To Comeback To Football And I Thank He Would Be A Great Backup For Brees He Was A Ok Starter For A Bad Browns Team. What Do You Guys And Gals Thank About That. He Was A Good Leader And Would Be An Influence In The Locker Room. Also He Is Younger Than J.martin He Will Turn 30 Or Is Already.

He maybe worth a look. interesting thought

Hard worker... played on a team devoid of talent and he torched us once. I was at the game against the Browns in the Dome when J Pathon caught that pass over the middle and got knocked the F%&%# out!

I usually don't say a lot of 4 letter words in public but I think I used every one of them when it happened. |
Wouldn't hurt to see what he's got.:) However, I'm not ready to dump J. Martin. He's been here with the system and with the young guys behind him I'd rayher not lose that experience at this time.:)

Don't forget, Couch is coming off shoulder surgery.
|
In the 20+ months he has been here, Payton has had the chance to bring in a lot of guys to challenge Martin at #2, and other than McPherson, he hasn't looked at any.
That in itself should be all the confidence we need in Martin. Couch, Crouch, Redman, Culpepper, Carr, forget them all and let's move on |
i'll say this about martin....whenever he had a chance to play last year he looked HORRIBLE!!!!...saying that....he did have some really good games in st. louis...i hope we never have to see him playing this year, but if we do...i hope it is in his old st. louis form.

The rumor is that Couch's agent is actually calling teams to try to get a gig. Shouldnt it be the other way around? I say stay away from him.
|
But if he is doing the calling then there's no way he can be thinking of signing for anything above the minimum unless some unexpected bidding war starts.
Couch is a perfect example of why bad teams need to think twice about drafting a rookie QB to be their leader. That ruined Couch and he may never make it back. However, he had decent talent at one point. If it is possible to bring that back (and Payton may be the coach for that), then let's see what he's got. I'm not sold on Martin as the backup and would at least like to see us take a look here. btw, Why not look at Culpepper if I want to look at backups? Two things: 1. money and 2. Culpepper will be looking for a starting gig whether he proves himself or not. Couch won't. |
