For the most part if you look at the running yards the defense gave up it was mostly on big plays that were bounced outside where the ends gave up containment and the LB's didn't make the plays. The result of a bunch of new guys that hadn't played together long enough to cover each others back. Look for a much better unit playing together this year.

Am I wrong that BY is supposed to be back before TC is over? It seems that he would have plenty of time to get in game condition, no?

I'll be honest, I don't know "diddly-poo" about Clancey, but his stats indicate that he is a solid DT, especially over the last two years. I don't care who starts as long as I don't have to endure another Willie Parker game.

Yea I believe he's suppose to be back in time... but I'm sure they're going to want to ease him into things so he doesn't hurt himself again. Personally I like the Young and Thomas combo... Clancy is a great rotational guy (solid starter as well). Both Young and Thomas are in their 30's. All three will see a lot of time and I think it's going to be a fair split timewise.

I had to go back in my thread archives to retrieve this. But I didn't mind it much because Young IMO is the most underrated DT in the NFL.

Bryan Young should have made the Pro Bowl in '06. This is a comparison of the NFC Pro Bowl DT's and Young:

# 93 Kevin Williams
Position: DT
Height: 6-5
Weight: 304----------G-Ttl-Tkl-Ast-Sk-Pd
2006 Minnesota Vikings 16 36 28.0 8 5 6

# 77 Kris Jenkins
Position: DT
Height: 6-4
Weight: 335
2006 Carolina Panthers 16 41 32.0 9 3 1

# 91 Tommie Harris
Position: DT
Height: 6-3
Weight: 300
2006 Chicago Bears 12 28 22.0 6 5 1

# 66 Brian Young
Position: DT
Height: 6-2
Weight: 298
2006 New Orleans Saints 16 46 36.0 10 5.5 1

"With 46 TTLs, he was pretty damn good against the run, 5.5 sks says he is still a damn good pass rusher, so when pointing that proverbial finger point ti at the entire Defense, not at Young."

I can't wait for the season to begin. The team looks better now, than they did at the end of last season, which is what every team wants.
