Quarterbacks during the Ditka era.....

I was talking to a friend of mine, he being a Detroit fan, and we were both discussing the miserable QB history our teams have had over the years. But I really can't remember too many of our QB's prior to the Jeff Blake/Aaron Brooks year. I remember Tolliver, but that's about it. I tried to look it up online, but no such luck. Could somebody either list some of them for me or direct me to a link. Much appreciated.

Danny Wuerfel, Heath Shuler, Billy Joe Hobert, Billy Joe Tulliver, Jake Delhomme, Kerry Collins...

Let's see there was Hobert, Weurfell, Delhomme, Tolliver, Shuler and I believe that is all of the QBs that started duiring the Ditka era.

I'm gagging and coughing up hairballs over here, thinking about that WASTE of 3 years under "Da-No Coach" Ditka. The scene where Wuerfel sat up after a sack peeping through the earhole in his helmet epitomizes that entire era. The sad part of it all, we were all estatic when AB became the starter -- that's how pitiful the quarterback play had become.

Some very slight glimmers of hope during that time . . . Delhomme, one of the Billy Joe's (Tolliver), and (a year after Ditka) Blake (he got the boot when Haz found his man in AB).

ugh...don't get me started on the whole blake/ab thing. blake was having a career year before that injury.

Yeah, he was dumped out with the trash because of Haz's man-crush on AB

During the three year Ditka era, four different quarterbacks made starts in all three years.

1997 - Heath Shuler, Danny Wuerffel, Billy Joe Hobert, Doug Nussmeier.

1998 - Billy Joe Tolliver, Danny Wuerffel, Billy Joe Hobert, Kerry Collins.

1999 - Billy Joe Tolliver, Danny Wuerffel, Billy Joe Hobert, Jake Delhomme.

then Brooks took over and we were all wondering... WHO?

Everyone remember how Tolliver was suppose to be the All-Pro QB we were hoping for, well so was Shuler for that matter, wait and Collins too. The only Highlight from that era was Weurfell staying undefeated against the future Hall Of Famer Peyton Manning.

Ditka set the position of QB back 50 years.

"I really like Heath Shuler" -- Mike Ditka

I think the real kick in the pants was that Delhomme and Collins later led their teams to superbowls.....and though it might not have been during the Ditka era, lets not forget we had Marc Bulger on the squad for a little while too.
