In the history of NFL, the list is endless of great QB's that have had to endure the media and "so called knowlegeable fans" calling for them to be replaced in the first few years of their career.

When a QB starts his rookie season they are usually given a grace period by the media and fans. Generally rookie QB's show flashes of why they were chosen to be a startng NFL QB. Fans become excited and the media builds the QB up to be the savior of the franchise. After the QB's rookie season the honeymoon is over and the expectations are higher from the fans and media. Inevitably the QB will start to struggle as he learns to read defenses. Questions will arise asking if the QB will ever become more consistant and cut out the foolish mistakes.

In the second year for a QB the fans and media will start to be more critical of the QB, but are willing to overlook the fact that they haven't developed into an elite NFL quarterback, since this is only their second year as a starter. After all how many QB's have taken their teams to the promised land in only thier second year? The second year is looked upon as year for the starting QB to gain valuable experience and calls from the fans and media for the backup QB to take over are pretty much non-exsistant.

Now comes the third year as a starting NFL QB. At this point the fans and the media are satisfied that the QB has had ample time to develop into an elite NFL quarterback. This is the year for "no more excuses." The QB was given a huge contract whn he was drafted or traded for and he has been surrounded with enough talent on offense that any QB could be successful with.

If the QB still continues to struggle in his third year, fans and media will be very critical of the QB and comparisions will be made to other QB's that have had more success in their 3rd season. Nevermind the fact that the list of QB's that continued to struggle in their 3rd year and later went on to have great careers is 10 times longer than the success stories of the QB's that the that the QB in question is being compared to. I mean how many articles have you read where the media defends a QB by comparing his first few years in the league with QB's such as John Elway and Terry Bradshaw, both of which struggled in their first few year. The fans and media don't want to hear that, they want results now.

The really good coaches know that it takes time to deveop a quarterback. There does come a point where enough is enough and it's time to make a change. They know that the correct amount of time must be given though. You don't just become impatient and start the cycle all back over again, because it is unreasonable to think that your going to bring someone in and have instant success at the QB position.

Teams that give up on QB's too soon usually are the teams that rank consistantly at the bottom. Teams that ignore the media and fans calling for the QB to be run out of town usually reap the benifits of allowing the QB to mature and are considered elite NFL teams.

Aaron Brooks has had success and problems in his short NFL career. There is no way that anyone can tell at this point what kind of QB he will develop in to. He might lead the Saints to the superbowl this year or he might struggle this year. Maybe it will be 2 more years before he puts it all together. Maybe he will never get there.

The point is it is absolutely rediculous for anyone to be talking about replacing Aaron Brooks at this point and I mean any reference to the fact that Aaron should be replaced is absolutely rediculous.

We have had too many starting QB's in New Orleans the last decade. I hope Haslett has enough sense not to listen to the media and fans and devolpes Aaron Brooks the way that the great QB's were and the Saints finally get to the superbowl.
