Saints waive LB Faulk, WR Ridgeway

The Saints waived former LSU linebacker Trev Faulk and receiver Dante Ridgeway on Wednesday. In their place, they signed rookie receiver Derrick Doyle from Northwestern State and former Harvard offensive tackle Nick Sobik.

I sure was pulling for Faulk to make this team, but after 2 screw ups Sunday night, it doesn't surprise me.

I really thought Faulk could've contributed to the club in game situations and special teams, I don't understand this move at all.

I read that Payton said he did not want to cut Faulk but had to make a roster move because of the offensive line depth. He said that there was more depth at linebacker so that was to only place to go.

P.S. The story is on the thread called Fujita update.

I was pulling for Faulk, too -- but he definitely did not have a good showing Sunday night

NFL | Doyle works out at Pro Day
Tue, 10 Apr 2007 20:59:45 -0700

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Northwestern State WR Derrick Doyle measured a height of 5-foot-11 5/8 and a weight of 173 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds and .62 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.28 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.36 seconds. He measured a 34-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump and completed six repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

UDFA signed with the Bears.

Doyle (5-11, 175), from Monroe-Wossman, shattered NSU’s career record for pass receptions with 124 (the old record was 99) and had 30 catches to lead NSU in receiving for the third straight season.

He overcome offseason surgeries on both shins and put up team-high numbers while the Demons used three QBs, two whom had never played college football before. Doyle finished fourth all-time in receiving yardage at NSU after starting every game in his career, playing as a true freshman

In 2006, Doyle had 30 catches for 356 yards (11.9 avg.) with one touchdown while receiving honorable mention All-SLC recognition.

Some scouts believe receiver Derrick Doyle will be the next Northwestern State player to reach the N.F.L.

thats about all of it. Ridgeway for him? Interesting move. Hands must be the key here.

Re: Saints Cut Two

I kind of figured Faulk wasn't going to make the team especially with Evans' play. Good luck to him though.

Sounds old school to me but I'm no expert on that matter. Better call Ray Lewis.
