Re: LBs Simmons, Jones making slow progress
Maybe Simoneau is on fire in practices, because I've reviewed the film from the to two pre-season games over and over and Simoneau, along with a few others grade out the worst to me. He's always getting caught up in traffic. He's very easy to block. He doesn't have the speed to turn the runner back inside. I'm just not excited about going into the season with this guy in the middle.
Our defense was the weakness of our team last year. Everybody talks about how good a job our LB did last year, and given the situation (thrown into the fire) they did do a good job. But in reality, except for maybe Fujita, they were average when they were good. I was expecting Simmons to come in and be that enforcer on the second level. We need a HITTER, we have enough "drag downers". I Jus fell like Simmoneau is a good LB to have an your depth chart, but if he has to start an extended amout of games, we lose at the position. Hopefully I'm wrong. But the film dont lie. Simmoneau is at best "average". If we want to get better, we need to upgrade that position. If not with Simmons...then with somebody else!! |
The best conerback tandem in the league reside in the N.O.
