As it stands now here is my opinion on the final roster:

I don't see much changing in the next two games to alter this.

I think having a veteran backup QB is important in the NFL, God forbid something were to happen to Brees I'd feel a lot better with Martin out there than a rookie QB going into the playoffs.
I will say though that this will be Martin's last season with us.

Stecker = Trade bait?
the only thing he has going for him is Blitz pick up.
Pierre Thomas seems to have him beat everwhere else. Hands, quicker and faster.
Steckers a FA next year so a young replacement would not be bad right now.
I would love to find a spot for Kevin Dudle. He need special team play to stand a chance.

From what I've seen (2 PS Games), Pierre Thomas looks really good. Hopefully the team can get some value for Stecker in the trade market, 'cause I'd like to see Pierre make the final 53.

I think Fife is the #3 QB and Palko is relegated to the practice squad. He was a UDFA and has a HUGE learing curve in front of him. I really hope he sticks around, but don't think he's ready to play.

The rest of the poster's roster looks good. I think David Jones is a practice squad guy for now.

Pittman won't clear waivers if we let him go to try and put him on the practice squad. I think he definitely sticks.
The only player I am really upset hasn't shown better is Alfred Fincher. I think his days are over here and I always hoped he'd make some noise at MLB, but I think Evans takes his spot.

We're pretty far down the waiver wire list - that means every time ahead of us in the wavier order gets a look at a Palko, Pittman, David Jones, Pierre Thomas, Tramain Hall, and Kevin Dudley (still eligible?) before they clear waviers before we can claim them for our practice squad. I see every one of these guys making the practice squad for the lower 28 teams (remember Mike Haas?)

You don't usually see teams giving up draft picks at the end of PS, because they know teams have to cut the guy anyway. The Browns could end up cutting Anderson or Frye for this reason
I really don't see much value for Stecker anyway, and doubt anyone would give a 6th or 7th for him

As for the final 53, I think we carry another FB before Stecker
Also, is Goodwin a lock? He has looked lost out there- has Alleman played any at center?

Bellamy and Craft also might be cut for younger, quicker, cheaper options

I think Pittman will make the team, easily. He's obviously our long-term solution as a backup.

I don't know about Ninkovich making the squad, isn't he still hurt? If he is, who's the other option for backup DE?

I am really pulling for that Lance Moore guy. I only saw him in limited action in the Bills game, but from what little I saw, he looks like he could be a nice addition.

What do you think are the chances of Baker clearing waivers and being placed on the PS? Or do you think he's worth the spot?

I dont think there is a chance that we keep Pettiti. The Saints will only keep 9 O-lineman and he is the odd man out. Troy Evans WILL make the team. Jamie Martin is an absolute LOCK to make the team...sorry guys. No chance Pittman would clear waivers so dont even think about him for the practice squad. There is absolutely zero interest in Aaron Stecker as far as trade value goes. Why would anyone give up anything for him? Goodwin is also a lock to make it. David Jones is on the bubble. Bellamy makes it because we dont have a 4th safety worth making the team.

We traded up for Pittman, he sticks, but needs to pick up the blitz. Stecker's still listed as #1 KR on Saints website?? Hoping for Dudley to back up Carney. Pierre Thomas could show something in KR, but probably PS. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up a safety or CB after the cuts.

I pray to God that we keep Rob Ninkovich.

People, be patient with this man, he'll be good.

Even as like an interim kind of linebacker or hybrid player, he's got a nasty streak and he really fires up a defense. Watch.

Pierre Thomas, that's my boy!!!!!!! Rushing like this tonight and very good on special teams. Man, I hope he makes this team. He won't last 10 minutes if we cut him or try to place him on the practice squad.

Illinois. And very productive there too in a competitive Big 10.

Stecker, Branch, and Dudley are probably the odd guys out in the RB/FB group.

Here's my thought after last night. I love Thomas and I think he earned his spot. If we can get a 6 or 7 out of Stecker we will take it. I am not impressed by Pittman but I think he makes the practice squad, Thomas is gone and Ninkovich is on injured reserve.

Cher, here's three I think you might be wrong on. Just my opinion mind you, but here they are. Branch, for some reason, I just don't think he's going to make it this year. He's to far removed from last year when we really did need him. Phillips, as much as I liked him last year, he hasn't shown me much this year. I think he's gone. Last but not least, and my biggest surprise to you all is Hollis Thomas, he's still to fat and seems very slow and to big to keep his push going, I think Payton will tire of his antics before the season starts. It
just seems to me he's not doing enough to get into shape to play.

Interesting thought on Thomas. I just don't think, even with Lake playing above expectations, that we have the depth at DT to cut him.

What about Stecker? Did he touch the ball last night?

Any chance we were showcasing Thomas number 3 because some teams are interested?

As far as I know and i'm pretty sure of this Ninkovich isn't on IR. Stecker played well last night what little he played. As far as Pierre Thomas, I don't think they're showing him off so someone else can grab him.

It's more of a gut feeling on my part. I just think he could do more to get down to weight. I was disappointed he came in so overweight. I'd have thought with a new contract he would be ready. Guess all that money messed up his thinking.

I don't see Stecker making it, I see Deuce, Reggie, Pittman at RB and Karney,Dudley at FB.

And I don't know about Meachem. He's shown one catch, that's all. Moore has definitely out-played him at WR. I guess he's the 1st round pick, but wouldn't it be something if Coach Payton cuts him?

I cant see any scenario where Dudley makes it. I cant see Fincher making it. The only two guys that come to mind that could be somewhat of a surprise is Hollis Thomas and Fred Thomas.

The saints are 27 or 28th on the nfl wavier wire when it comes to the 53 man roster.However when it comes to the 8 man practice squad i think all teams can try to sign any player who has not played more than several games on a game day 46 man nfl roster.where the wavier wire hurts this year is the saints trying to claim another player for the 53 roster as 27 teams have first shot.after the saints man the pt squad another team can only claim a player if they put the player on the 53 regular roster.as the 16 game regular season gos by the saints can claim a player off the saints 8 man pt squad without the payer having to clear waviers.what i can not think of is when the saints claim a player off another teams pi squad is if these players go thru 27 other teams first shot to claim.
