All in All!!!

After watching and/or listening to our preseason games, listening to all the pundits on Sirius NFL radio, and generally seeing what our team is capable of, no one on our schedule strikes any fear into my heart. Before the preseason, I was worried about a couple of matchups, but even those no longer bother me. I know we're are not going to win all of our games but go back and take a look at the schedule and find a team that you can mark as a definite L. I couldn't find one.

Having to play AT Chicago in late December comes to mind. By then they will have replaced Grossman. I'm not thrilled about opening AT Indianapolis either because I'm not sure our defense will handle the no huddle offense very well in their first game. I'm not much afraid of the middle 14 games though. Now is the time to just sit back and hope we're as good as we looked in the last 4 preseason games and not as bad as we looked in the first. It's probably somewhere in between.

Don't hold me to that. Knowing my Saints; they might beat the Colts and Bears and lose the other 14. I was just saying which games worried me the MOST. We know so little about how the vickless birds will be and how good the bucs and cats are. Right now I'm kinda thinking 9-7 or 10-6.

Last year (and many other years) we simply play to the level of our competition. We rise to the occasion in Dallas, sink to it against Washington. The Saints' record as a favored team has never been very good. We need to overcome that this year and take care of the easy games on our schedule

The Colts will have a very difficult time stopping our running game so IMO the Saints have a really good shot in beating the Colts..
I look for the Saints to control the ball on the ground keeping the Colts offense off the field..
It will be a good game, I can't wait for kickoff.
As for the Bears.....pufffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Agreed. Hopefully with Reggie's intensity and Brees' leadership we can loose most of those losing ways. We should be better...but I'm thinking 10-6 or maybe we win 11.

but....WE WIN THE SUPERBOWL!!

I guess some people forget that the Colts still have Manning at QB.

Saints go 13-3. They will not lose to Indy. They will however lose to a team they should beat. They do every year. The 3 they lose to will be teams with a good front 4. If you look at the games lost last year. It was to teams that could appy pressure to the QB and RBs. That is why they will not lose to Indy. Indy will not be able to apply pressure. They saints will run like wild fire. I would not be suprised if Duece and Reggie both have 100 yards on the day. This will keep Manning of the field. Plus the saint D will apply pressure and when manning is flushed at of the pocket on the run he loses some of his accuracy.

How can they not apply pressure when they have two of the best pass-rushing DE's in the game? The reason I don't see them stopping us is because of the loss of Tarik Glenn. I remember watching some Indy preseason and they said after the snap they will have Ugoh go inside while the LG while slip out to the RDE. If so, blitz on that side so they get tangled up. Im hoping for a 10 win seaons too thogh.

Brees has problems when the pressure comes from the middle. Remember that Brees tore up to Colts defense in Indy barely two years ago.

With Booger McFarland out, the Colts don't have an inside presense at DT. When Freeney comes around the edge, Brees will simply step up in the pocket and deliver the ball. Plus Jamal Brown will hold his own against Freeney.

Is this the final take on the game or the Final-Final take on the game or is it the Final top 10,000 that will start as early as tomorrow.

Re: All in All!!!

- Saints minimum of 2 wins @ Bye week. Colts is touch and go

- Saints minimum of 4 wins after 6 games. Seahawks will not roll over

- Saints minimum of 5 wins after 9 games. 49ers a close call, Jaguars tough it out

- Saints minimum of 7 wins after 12 games. Panthers the usual hardnose defense. Hoping the Saints are relatively injury free at this point.

- Saints minimum of 10 wins after 16 games. Chicago away. Outdoors, bitter winter. Saints may have their minds on their playoff strategy.

10 wins? I would certainly take 11 wins. (How's that for instant greed?)

Such high expectations. Unfamiliar territory, but I like it.

Geaux Saints!

How can you have a final take on a game that hasn't been played yet?

I take none of the above for $1000 Alex.

There won't be a final take until the Saints take the field against the Bucs on the 16th. Then win or lose, the Indy game will be put to rest.

Offense drops off a bit, some areas in the defense still not where we need it to be.

8-8 at worst, 10-6 at best.

I too would kinda like to see the season played before I start wondering where we're going to finish. Yes, I think we have a chance to go deep into the playoffs, but that's a long time from now and many things can happen in that time. It's great to speculate but you have to remember that that is exactly what it is. I think this is the most talented team the Saints have ever mustered. As long as the injury bug doesn't hit us hard we have a chance. Of course there are a multitude of other things that can effect the outcome of the season. So I plan to sit back and enjoy the season, hope they kick butt on everyone they face and win the Super Bowl, but that's a long way off.

Enjoy!!!!!!

You and I both need to temper our enthusiasm.
I can't help but think that every coach, every general manager, and every player will be watching this game and come away thinking that they would hate to play the Saints offense.
That said, any given Sunday (in this case Thursday) any team can win. So I'm worried about every team that the Saints play this year. This is a good team but is an injury away from a bad season.

Bobad,

Welcome to the board. While everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, it would be helpful to back up those opinions with some justification.

I fail to see why the offense would drop off this season. I think the Saints offense will actually be better than their NFL leading offense of a year ago. Three reasons: stability, health, and opposition.

Stability: The backfield and OL are back intact. Brown, Stinchcomb, and Evans who each were starting for the first time at their respective positions are back a year stronger and a year wiser. Reggie looks like he's finally learning how to run in the NFL. The only substative change is Johnson at the TE position. A guy who was a superior receiver for SF just two years ago. Coach Payton is still at the helm of and explosive offense and Henderson seems to have finally grabbed that #2 WR position.

Health: Brees and Deuce were both coming of significant injuries last year. The knee injury that Deuce suffered usually takes 18 months to completely heal while Brees was coming off a severely injured shoulder. No such problems this year.

Opposition: The Saints offense struggled against superior defenses last season. The Saints will most likely be facing only three such defenses this season (Chicago, Jacksonville, Carolina)

I posit that the Saints will be the #1 offense in every major offensive category except for maybe rushing offense.

Indy and Chicago worry me as well. Can't forget who is 06 Superbowl champs; and we all know what happened the last time we went to Chicago in the snow. But, I, too am SOOOOO hopeful!!

11-5 is my prediction
only I don't see us loosing to Philly I see us loosing to either the first (INDY and no it's not that I think they are a better team it's just that I think mistakes could plague us because truthfully if we don’t make any mistakes I see us beating INDY) or the last game of the season (Chicago)
