Byron Leftwich - Interested?
I think Leftwich would make a great backup. He's young (27) and is a guy that plays with a lot of heart. He's had injury problems, but that's not as big of a deal for a #2 guy. I think he could be the type of player that would provide a spark if he were called on in an emergency and could scratch out a few wins if [that which must not be mentioned] ever happens. I wonder how much he would cost.

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
I would definitely sign him, one as a backup, and 2 to prevent ATL from getting him.
I think he will be a starter again for somebody. |
Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
It definately wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a look. People year after year complain about Bouman and Martin, if you want a solid former NFL starter backup, dish out the dough. I'm fine with Martin... but I wouldn't mind Leftwich either.

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
No thanks. Give me Martin over Leftwich. Shoot, right now I'd take Palko's upside over Leftwich.
Leftwich has only shown himself to be a sub par qb. Too much money for sub par. The Jaguars have had a great defense and run game for years and Leftwich has done nothing with that team. And my question is, how is a guy named the starting qb one day and a few days later is dropped from the team? Something fishy there. |
Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
I would love to see him in a Saints uniform. Maybe Coach Payton could get him to shorten that wind up.

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
He's always hurt. Even in college...
|
Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
Yeah I'll pass, unless he pays US.
|
Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
Nope. Anyone who wants him on this team either hasn't ever watched him play, or has seen very little of him. He's AB without the mobility.
|
Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
whoa whoa.....i wouldnt go that far Brann.....comparing him to AB just aint fair. I think the guy would win more games us than Martin would......I dont think hes superman....but he aint AB

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
No, he wouldn't. His mechanics are wrong for this offense and he doesn't go through his progressions quickly enough. He's not a read and react QB ala Brees. He also doesn't deal well with criticism from the coaching staff. Sound familiar?

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
over priced clip board holder..............I'll passs

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
It wouldn't be a bad pick up at all. He's a good QB done pretty well in Jacks. The only knock on him is durability. Correct me if I am wrong but we would be signing him as a back up and not a starting, if we were replacing Brees then no.

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
I agree with u Euphoria, he would be a good pickup, but I think he's looking for a team he could be a starter.

Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?

I am not sure that is really an option for him, I mean he couldn't beat out David Garrard. And yes, he is better than Martin |
Re: Byron Leftwich - Interested?
How is he better than Martin? Because he has a stronger arm? His windup takes forever, he doesn't have experience in a timing offense (Martin does) and he doesn't check down quickly enough to run a read and react offense (Martin does). Why the hell do people think Leftwich is any good? What has he ever done?

The larger questions are his mobility (which is why Garrard is getting the nod for now) and health. Keeping him out of ATL might be a worthy endeavor, but its doubtful with that system there that he'll even compete with Harrington (who I have a feeling will surprise alot of people this year). Bottom line will most likely be his bottom line: his price tag would likely be too steep for our team's budget. |
