the way we think

We as fans have just got to change our mentality a bit regarding this season. We're not likely to go 12-4 or 13-3 and win homefield for the playoffs. 10-6 or 11-5 is attainable, as is a division championship considering we've played horrible football and yet are only a game out of first.

I refuse to believe that our athletes in the secondary are this inferior to other secondaries in the league. Maybe it's a good thing that we're getting exploited schematically out of the gate. I believe in our coaches. Maybe our team gets that chip back on their shoulders and makes one heck of a run once we address our weaknesses.

It's time to find out what this team is really made of.

Is it Monday yet?

Agreed. I never thought we were better than a 10-6 record for the season, which is fine with me. Given the weakness I believed our division contained I think that record is a lock for the title and maybe even a bye considering some of the other divisions are more closely matched at the top.

This team is so much better than their performance so far. We have few injuries but alot of execution concerns. I won't speculate why we have suddenly become unable to handle game situations at every level, but I do know we have the ability to do so and we need to relocate this quickly.

Tennessee is going to be a tough match up. They have a elusive QB, a solid run game and a very good defense as well. Jeff Fisher is one of my most respected coaches and we will need our best game to overcome them on Monday. Sure hope we find it.

I agree, QB9. One of the hardest things about dealing with these two losses is having to realign my expectations. I really talked myself into believing that this team was a lock to run the NFC. That's not the case.

However, let's look at the other divisions:

The North has GB and Detroit sitting atop the standings. I'm a Golden Eagle, so I'll always root for Favre, but they and the Lions are not going to win any Superbowls. Chicago still can't score with "Train" Rex, and I'm not sure Hester and the D can carry them as far as they need to go. If Peterson keeps his pace up, Minny could be frisky, too.

NFC West: Who the hell knows. Any of those teams could pull off the division.

NFC East: Washington's my week two sleeper pick. The Laurel, MS connection (Campbell and Portis) could carry those guys a long way...Dolomite Jenkins just needs to stay healthy (YouTube - Clinton Portis IS Dolemite Jenkins). And *cough* dallas *cough* is probably the favorite, but Philly could pull it together, too.

Like the South, every single division is wide-ass open. I wouldn't be surprised if a team with a losing record wins a division this year.

I'm also getting a little bit happier that we have an early BYE week this year. I know we as fans had too high expectations, but the players probably did too and they need a break to get back into the right mindset.

Our expectations were and still are high.

If our boys do by some chance lose on Monday night. They will have alot to prove for the rest of the season.

If I was one of the coaches I would have every clip and qoute from the so called experts (to enclude some of our comments) that have dogged them as one hit wonders, and taped them to every wall I could find.

A fire needs to be started.

I honestly believe in something Brees said. I read an article where he stated that the expectations were so high not only from us but from themselves that he thinks it may have gotten to the point where the team EXPECTED big plays to happen. I think Brees and the rest of the team are slowly coming back to Earth on a lot of this stuff. A couple of the Bucs while shaking hands with Fujita after the game told him that "everybody was gunning for them this year." I have a feeling that this team after these two beatings are going to finally understand that they REALLY have to EARN IT. Its not just a catch phrase.....ITS FOR REAL. If they can pull off a good win here on Monday I think things will start to move along nicely for our team. My only concern on this entire team believe it or not......is our KICKER. I remember when the Dolphins got him as a rookie. He was great way back when. As the year went on he started slipping and finally last year all the fans here wanted to get rid of him. I really was not happy with this move. He can win it for us from like 60 yards but he tends to be wild. I hope he can get it together. Well....for what its worth folks...remember... we actually outgained the Bucs on EVERY category on Sunday. Unfortunately....that also includes turnovers. Ya know...I know I'm kinda ramblin but I guess I'm just doin my part to make sure that we continue to believe in this team.

I will catch my first Saints home game in the Dome one day. Until then you guys need to make sure my speakers rattle like they did against Philly in the playoff game last year.

Go SAINTS!!!
