Saints players began arriving at a Metairie hotel Friday for the team’s training camp.


Team meetings were scheduled for Friday evening, with a practice slated for Saturday morning.


The accommodations at the Wyndham Hotel are a far cry from the more Spartan offerings of a college dorm room, like the one the players stayed in during their camps in Thibodaux. The move to a hotel was necessitated when the team moved its entire camp to its facility on Airline Drive.


“This is definitely nicer,� said offensive lineman Kendyl Jacox. “But when all is said and done, camp is camp.�


“Bigger bed, it’s just nicer,� said safety Michael Hawthorne. “We liked the people down there. There was a lot of fan support, but we took a big step doing this.�


Tight End Ernie Conwell said he was a bit concerned about making it to practice each day, since it was merely a short walk on a college campus.
