It's Encouraging

At least the offense showed up tonight. Lance Moore needs to play more. The defense hung in there, but were overpowered by the Titans Offensive Line. There is some hope for them to beat the weaker teams on the schedule.

Haynesworth is an animal, glad they don't have to play him again.

Vince Young is a better passer than I thought.

The only encouraging thing about this is that there is a bye next week and I can watch a REAL football game on sunday!

Maybe the Saints should do the same and remember what sport they are playing!!!

Anybody know rock we can find Brooks sleeping under? Maybe just maybe he could bring a spark with him! After Brees 4th int it can't hurt!

I am encouraged after watching the first 2 games, they are improving, It's the high expectations that are hard to deal with, but I think the Superbowl/Playoff run is over and we can see if there are some indications that the team iis playing better, and they did play better tonight.

High expectations or not...most of us were thinking competitive at a minimum and we haven't seen that yet.

Yea bring back brooks! Sure he threw backwards passes and smiled whenever he made mistakes. But At least he didnt throw 6 INTS and 2 Fumbles in 3 games and .... He was bad but never that bad. Brees looks like total CRAP.

Re: It's Encouraging

We are struggling in all 3 areas, Offense, defense, special teams.

O-line is BAD. Brees is very unhappy. Deuce is hurt.
D-line no impact. So we get picked off any which way. Tackling never clean.

Long year.

We should be encouraged during preseason and expecting after the regular season starts. They didn't play any better this week then they did in week one.

U need to put down the wacky weed or what ever you are smoking !! We suck face it !! Sean Payton is not the whizkid of last year and niether is Brees !! We lack the fundamentals (IE a offensive or defensive line worth a **** !!)

Re: It's Encouraging

We haven't improved... let me see they scored 30's again and we got 2 scores. Wheres the improvement!

Re: It's Encouraging

I wouldn't put it all on Brees. That last one looked like all his fault, but the 2 before it were both tipped b/c of pressure and/or a gift horse form the aforementioned Lance Moore. One thing that has been alluded to by some is that saints WRs are barely even average right now. No real game breaker. Colston as good as he is, needs that STEADY speedster on the opposite side (Sorry Henderson, I said "steady").

darstep 09-24-2007 11:08 PM

Re: It's Encouraging

LANCE MOORE! I liked how he played tonight...except for the late 4th quarter kick return reverse of field for a loss in an attempt to make a play - but that I can forgive. He needs more touches in the receiver slot. NOT MUCH ELSE.

Did we clean anybody's clock tonight? Did we tee-off on anybody? Is there any Titan that needs the whirlpool tub tonight? I dont think so - that's our problem.

OL got hammered. We lost Duce. We lost turnover battle.
DL got no prssure. LB, CB, and S can not cover or Tackle.
Well we have to improve every phase of our game.
Nothing really good about this. Unless you think a better draft pick is something. Right now I don't. No player is safe in my opinion. Plenty of bench.

o come on you punks wanting brooks...the ONLY reason brees looks so bad is because the OLINE is giving him NO time. come on guys...don't be so quick to give up. jesus.

Re: It's Encouraging

Quick to give up? I haven't seen a positive thing all season. Nothing. All the hype, killed this team. They can't handle it. Payton is making bad calls, at the worst times. They all look lost. Unbelievable. Unbelievable.

Rip my heart out and feed it to a Falcons fan right in front of me. Deuce McAllsiter is out for the year.

The reeling New Orleans Saints may have lost much more than a game on Monday.

Yeah, nobody wanted to block him. They were afraid he'd stomp on their head when their helmets came off. Animalistic indeed.

Re: It's Encouraging

I think this might be another High School Team we're witnessing. Could it be that the Bears showed the rest of the league a blueprint on how to beat the Saints last year? Sean Payton does not look like he's made any adjustments since. Kinda crazy going for it on 4th on your side and then throwing it deep when you have a stud like Deuce back there to make half a yard!

AMEN!

I see alot on new faces on this board posting in this thread. Welcome.

Now, here is the deal.

Every Saints fan complained about the defense after the year was up. The Saints heard us and aquired some more people. Well, that #3 passing defense went south. We wanted more weapons for Drew....well, we got them too. Now Brees doesn't know who to throw to.

Face it WE ASKED FOR THIS! Last years defense is a freakin' monster compaired to this year.

To the people saying "get rid of Brees and bring in Brooks"; there is no way, NO FRIGGIN' WAY, you are true Saints fans. Brees has done more for our team and the city of N.O. than A.B. ever wanted to. If any of you say that at the begining of the year you did not love Drew, I will call you a ......well, I won't say it because of the "personal attack rules".

Are the Saints what we want??????

No, but this is what we asked for.

Re: It's Encouraging

Ok let me be the first to say what the real problem is. What is different this year from last year? Why are we not as good as last year? The answer is simple. We let Joe Horn go.
Sure he had his injuries, was getting older, and has done nothing with the Falcons but on the Saints he was a catalyst! He was a fiery veteran that knew how to play and taught others how to play as well. He loved the city and we loved him back then we let him go. Business is business but I say bring back Hollywood!!!

SapperSaint 09-25-2007 08:16 AM

Re: It's Encouraging

Dave, welcome aboard.

But I really don't think bringing Joe back is the solution. Right now OUR boys have too many problems to name. This team is not a team right now. Something is wrong that we can not see. Maybe something in the locker room, or maybe the playbook. I don't know. Maybe Boba can find out some answers for us.

Re: It's Encouraging

Here's the deal.....Everyone is jumping all over Drew Brees and how terrible he is. Lets not forget, He did lead us to the NFC Championship last year. Oh and plenty of other players are not showing up either. Here is the difference between Aaron Brooks and Drew Brees (besides the fact they shouldn't even be in the same category) Brooks never cared when he played bad and never got upset at how bad he sucked. In the press conference after the game, you could really tell how much it bothered him. I am just as disappointed as the next guy and had the highest expectations this year but I am not ready to call our coach and QB bad and need to be replaced. Brees needs more protection in the pocket and our offensive line has got to step up. Not to mention our defense needs to play aggresive and TACKLE people instead of brushing them with there hands. All I am saying is, disappointing? YES! But Brees is still a good QB and Payton is still a good coach. Maybe other teams figured out our offense from last year and we need to reevaluate our strategy.

Re: It's Encouraging

Hey thanks for the welcome! :)

Well my Joe Horn comment was kind of made in jest. I just miss him he was the best WR we ever had. I will always cherish his cell phone celebration and all he did for the Saints fans and community. In no way am I going to bash Brees or Bush or Colston or any of the guys who brought us to within one win of the Super bowl last year. I am just so confused as to why the most powerful looking offense last year is now the weakest looking this year. I'm hoping that maybe during the BYE they will have time to rethink things and heal Deuce up a little too. Maybe Payton can come up with something to once again fire up his team and surprise some other teams with changes in the game plan that suddenly seems to be exposed (did the Colts, Bucs and now Titans all take a page out of Bill Belichecks book and record some of the Saints signals?) jk
Anyway I've been a fan since 1987 so I've seen them actually look even worse than this and I never lost faith and never lost love. Someday the pieces will all come together and just like when the Red Sox won it all 3 years ago the Saints winning it all will feel that much sweeter. I just hope we don't have to wait 86 years! :p

No, but this is what we asked for.

How can you honestly say we addressed our concerns when you "acquire" people and don't put them in the line up? This D is a carbon copy with the exception of axing Toast and returning Harper to the line up. Where is all this talent the team acquired? Haven't even 'smelled' Simmons at MLB and the GM apparently thinks this is the McKenzie of 5 years ago!

And don't get me started on the offense. Apart from unceremoniously dumping Horn, where are the personnel the team acquired?

For all the off season/ draft pick ups, we've made NO adjustments to this team. And don't get me friggin' started on the play calling!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now excuse me while I down a Valium! Just reading some of these candy coated BS posts have got my blood pressure up! (visualize the veins sticking out of my forehead, and you get the picture!)
