ESPN - Duece out for season

Re: ESPN - Duece out for season

My hopes for the season were on Duece. Reggie carried 7 times for 15 yards with a long of 6 yards. That means that he had 9 yards on the other 6 carries. Stecker had 3 carries for 6 yards. My hopes for Brees' improved performance were hung on Duece. I love Black and Gold but.............I've been a SaintSince67.

Yeah, and I hate to say it, but this is Deuce's 2nd ACL tear...that's usually career ending. I'm pretty upset about this.

Dont worry guys its not a big deal, we traded draft picks that we couldve used to move up and get his eventual replacement in antonio pittman...its not like we cut him or wasted draft picks we obviously couldve used or anything....christ, what a horrible day already, i shouldve just stayed in bed

Saints | McAllister tears ACL
Mon, 24 Sep 2007 21:56:08 -0700

ESPNews reports New Orleans Saints RB Deuce McAllister (ACL) suffered a torn ACL Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. He will likely miss the rest of the 2007 season.

Well now this is interesting. I guess we will see some of our young backs on the field.

Time to see what Pierre Thomas has got. Best of luck, Duece.

Shame. I think we all respect Deuce here. I hate to see this happen to such a stand-up guy.

Horrible news Saints fans. Hate to see it happen to him.

That sucks!! I really didn't think the hit looked that bad. I was surprised to see him limping off after that one.

I didn't get to see ANY of the preseason games, but I read TONS of posts here about Pierre Thomas, and all my family back in LA says he looked great in pre-season.
So, what do you all think? Can he be effective filling in for Deuce?

I hate to see that happen to Duece because he is such a great guy, but I think Pierre could be very effective filling in for Duece.

Yes. Here's the thing with Thomas. When he gets the ball his feet don't pitter-patter like Reggie's do. He goes THAT (forward) way. He may not have the power that Deuce has, but he slips tackles and gets positive yardage. His problem is going to be picking up blitzes. I say get the young guys some PT. I'd especially like to see Thomas at RB and Young at CB play more. Uur corners just suck. Mckenzie always has...

Deuce out for the season

This is truly a sad day. He tore the other ACL...

ESPN - McAllister says MRI shows torn knee ligaments - NFL

NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister will miss the rest of the NFL season after tearing a knee ligament.

McAllister said an MRI exam Tuesday confirmed his worst fears: He tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in Monday night's 31-14 loss to Tennessee.

"I didn't want to believe, but just taking that walk to the locker room you could feel it just kind of giving way a little bit," he said.

"And that was just kind of reminiscent of how the other one felt," he added, referring to a 2005 injury.

The latest injury occurred when McAllister landed awkwardly after catching a short pass from Drew Brees in the second quarter Monday night.

McAllister said there was also some damage to his medial collateral ligament.

Five games into the 2005 season, McAllister tore his right ACL during a run in Green Bay. After reconstructive surgery, he returned to rush for 1,057 yards in 2006, helping the Saints to the NFC South title and starring in their playoff victory over Philadelphia.

Now, for the second time in three seasons, McAllister needs reconstructive knee surgery, to be followed by the long, painful rehabilitation that will likely last until close to when 2008 training camp begins.

It's a potentially devastating blow to the Saints, who are 0-3 and in desperate need of a victory to have any hope of rallying back into postseason contention.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old McAllister can only hope he can come back again and regain the form that made him the Saints' all-time leading rusher with 5,678 yards and 44 touchdowns.

"Obviously, the questions: Will you ever be the same? Will you ever be the back that you once were? Those are the different thoughts that obviously run through your mind as a player," McAllister said. "We'll see how the surgery goes and we'll go from there."

We wish Duece the best through the surgery and to a full recovery...and to the rest of the crew that will be without his services.
