Payton is making it look like we will sign one tomorrow. The good thing about a kicker is that you can sign one a day before the game and have them start because there is no need to learn the playbook.

Yes we did. Yesterday. Checked out Gramatica too. And some guy named Billy Cundiff.......yuck! Boy can't kick his way out of a wet paper bag with a hole in it. However, he can kick-off all the way to Hawaii.

Something that I kind of forgot about with all the frustrations about the Saints. It may not be that easy to just sign another kicker and release Mare. If Mare is released right now, he could have a major grievance against the Saints because he is injured. Maybe putting him on IR is an option, but he is not really that injured to be placed on IR. Another option is to carry two kickers, then that would hurt other areas since a player would have to be released. So I guess these issues could be why the Saints have not signed someone yet. They are clearly fed up with Mare, just perhaps no simple solution right now in dealing with the problem.

I can’t believe Payton has not cut Mare. This is a mistake that will cost the Saints. He needs to rectify this as soon as possible. Mora made this mistake with Chip Lohmiller and took half a season of bad licking to get rid of him.

Can't they simply opt out of his contract, pay him whatever it takes, and send him on his way?
