Who wants to see Palko??

... should the Saints drop to 0-5, and there's a very good chance that will happen, who here would like to see Palko start? Not tlike he's going to save the season, just to see what the Saints got in him.
... the kid game me Hebert flashbacks in preseason, and not just because he wears #3; I would love to se what the young man has in a regular season game.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

I do not want to see Palko at 0-5. If/when the Saints lose number 9, then I say let him finish the season. Now if Brees happens to get injured, then I say play Palko right away, no matter what the win/loss record is.

Not me....even in pre-season next year

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

NO NO NO... Palko would be a bad thing for his development behind our O line. You don't shell shock a guy who needs to learn the speed of the game and read defenses mean while he can't even set his feet before a 6'6 300 DT rains on his parade.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

yea he'd end up all messed up like other poor rookie qbs who have to start...it'd be awful for him. he wouldn't learn, he'd just get mauled :\

Not at 0-5, maybe when we are out of the running for the conference. Or as someone else said, if Drew gets hurt, God forbid.

I want to see Palko in a few years...maybe.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

I'd like to see Drew work out his kinks rather than seeing our 3rd string/practice squad quarterback out there taking snaps. It's not like he's our quarterback of the future or anything. We aren't having a good season but this isn't a rebuilding franchise. We have Drew under contract for so many more years... leave Palko where he's at.

The problem with Bree's Kinks has to do with the offensive line. They haven't given him the confidence to get back there and take the time he needs to make the proper steps during his dropping back and go through the proper progression.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

I agree. Brees has a quick release and is adept at reading defenses. Our o-line is not even giving him enough time to do either. God forbid Palko gets put in behind this turnstile fivesome.

I would love to see us develop Palko underneath Brees. I think he is just the person to groom leadership and professionalism in a young player.

This team needs to gut out some wins with it's starters and find a stride and build upon it. We don't need to be writing off the season at this point.

True... but even when he has time, he's still throwing behind receivers and his passes do not look crisp. You cannot solely blame the offensive line... Drew is to blame also.

Once you get in your head its tough to get out. You lose confidence, you don't just gain it back over night... sometimes it takes a whole off-season to get it back. Basically the offensive line needs to prove to Brees they got his back. Hell, maybe a QB can never really get it out of there head in which case we are more F-ed.

Combat troops experiance shell-shock syndrom... not the same thing but its similar.

TOTALLY agree it would not be a good thing for Palko's development.

So basically Brees shares no part in the blame.

Using your logic, I realized why our Mare is so horrible. He doesn't have any confidence in the play of our offensive line. He's rushing his kicks because he's afraid it's going to get blocked. Poor Mare... I don't know everyone is blaming him. It's the line's fault he blows.

I don't know why I even bother.

What are you getting at??? Where did I say he shares not part in the blame... I merely try to show what he maybe going through as a QB.

If you have a vendetta against Bree's for whatever reason thats your business but this O line is at fault for a lot of our problems, passing game, running game. We have the same problems when Brooks was at QB so don't give me crap that is solely on our QB because that is so not true.

Unless you fix the major flaw with the offense such as the O line. It won't matter who you have at QB they are going to be rushed, they won't have confidence to make their drops are progression and we won't be able to establish the run on anyone.

A great Offensive line will make up for weakness at QB or even RB... do I have to remind you that Grossman went to the SB??? Carr got a win againts us. Come one man wake up and smell the oline they stink.

Palco has been moved to the practice squad so it doesn't even matter at this point

Active roster...

New Orleans Saints - Roster

Practice squad roster...

New Orleans Saints - Practice Squad

Its just a matter of signing him on the active roster no biggy but he's not ready nor should we even chance ruining a potential good QB in the future.

You're certainly making enough excuses for him. You're deflecting blame off him onto the offensive line. He's a ProBowl quarterback, he needs to make adjustments. And when he has time, he needs to make his throws.

Vendetta? I love Drew Brees. I'm just smart enough to know everyone is to blame... not just the line. And if you could read and comprehend, nowhere am I putting blame solely on him... I don't even hint at it.

I'll give you the Bears... but if you think the Panthers have a good oline, you need to get off whatever you're smoking.

Never said they didn't. Don't know why you keep telling us that. I mean crap... every thread you're in, you surely make it known.

No you're not... Its Obvious you're trying to start something here... Where before this post did you say O-line deserves the blame for anything?

You claim I have said Brees doesn't share the bame but I never said that, one way or the other... so lay off. Don't put words in peoples post that don't exist.

And where the hell did I ever mention Mare???

papz 10-11-2007 02:37 PM

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

Once again, you have a problem with comprehension. I've agreed with you on numerous occasions that our line is not playing well... just that it's not entirely their fault.

Any blind man can see our line is a big part of the problem on this team.

Didn't say you said anything. I might have implied some things, but I certainly didn't say you said anything you didn't say.

You never did. I was using your logic as an excuse to why Mare sucks so bad. I guess you just don't understand.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

Then sitting Brees is stupid... unless you sit the O-line.

Thats my logic.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

we're 0-4 not 0-8.

Brees is our man for years to come.

Why jack with him this early??

The shakedown happens with the line.

Euphoria 10-11-2007 03:29 PM

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

0-4 and 0-8 I don't see any difference in that record -0-wins equates to -0-wins. Totally agree though the history of our team is that QB play has been horrible except for one or 2 good years this decade. No matter who is at QB they have problems with confidence in the line. ADRESS THE LINE for a change. I know everyone always wants to point the finger at the QB position but give it a rest if others failed... chances are anyone you put back there will fail.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

Not I. I still think Drew Brees is a class act, and a savvy QB who knows the game and knows how to stay cool. If he can't get his recievers to live up their abilities, how in hell do you think Palko will. QB won't make any difference if your recievers are handing off to corners instead of catching the pass. (a task for which they are paid handsomely) Anyone who thinks Palko is the answer apparently doesn't comprehend the problem. Leave Drew alone I say.

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

I can't believe this thread is still alive. The Saints would go 0-16 with Palko at QB this season. They would have a better shot with Reggie at QB, and I'm not being sarcastic.

Euphoria 10-12-2007 05:51 PM

Re: Who wants to see Palko??

I think I would like to see him play but not with that offensive line. It'll only kill him and he'll never be able to rebound. He needs time to develop and you can through a QB under the bus when you are trying to develop him.
