Great blocking by our O-Line
Brees has all day to throw the ball it tonight..
Bush is a monster tonight also, he's breaking the ankles of the Seahawks defense from miss tackles due to wrong angles. This is the best game the Saints have playing this year, reminds me of last season, hopefully they'll continue the good play tonight and win this thing. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
yes bress has all day. hopefully now we can finish it lets say 45-24

Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
It's the same ole O-line everybody has been crying about! Karney has changed the result. The problem is, it shows up in Reggie's stats. We keep Karney on the field, we WILL win. If Payton gets happy, sits Karney too much, and tries to let Brees carry us the rest of the way, we may have trouble.

Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
I'm so glad Seattle is my only defence in my fantasy league. /sarcasm
Oh, well. I'll take this win and a loss in my fantasy league any day. Who Dat? |

A win tonight would be great, we have the Falcons and then the Niners so they might make a little run but they have to win tonight first, no looking ahead for them in the second half.. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
this sooooooooooooo great !!!!

Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
Yeah the line didn't play all that well it was Karney and Bush making them look better than they were. I'll point this out tomorrow with some sources.

Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
Give Brees time to throw.... well, you saw the results. This game was over in the 2nd quarter.

Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
I wish we could have atleast got a field goal when we started running every play to run the clock out.
I'd feel more confident in this team if they could have done it effectively. Congrats to them, though, for still having the lead stretched to a point where it was still extremely difficult to lose. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
Euphoria I got your back. I saw that play when Karney blocked six people by himself and Reggie ran over 4 guys and got his longest run of the year. Then on the next play Karney only blocked 5 guys and Reggie ran over 6 guys for his 2nd longest run of the year. Good thing Seattle only rushed 1 guy at a time it took all 5 olinemen to block him. They have given up 4 sacks all year. We got 5 sacks in one game with our defense and our oline has given 4 sacks in 5 games.
Drew completed 69%. I hear stats dont mean anything but if you can limit henderson to only missing two balls (only throw him 2 balls) hopefully I wont have to wonder about the 1:Lets start palko thread 2:Brooks and Brees are similar qbs thread. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
Hahaha!
It's good to see people catching the ball again. Big game for Patten. We need to consistently play like he did. It doesn't have to be huge gains or even touchdowns - just get the first downs and extend the drives. We needed a possession receiver in a bad way. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
This O-Line did not make much happen in the second half, where blocking up the middle was the game plan. They did not handle the blitz well, and the only thing one can say is that if Bush is healthy and looks upfield, he'll make the O-line look like professional footballers.
Lucky win over a reeling team. Lets see how they bounce back from this win against the ATL. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
Lucky win? Did you see Dallas last monday night? I would call kicking an onside kick and then making a 53 yd field goal lucky. Carolina against the Saints when a kicker misses a 20 yd fg or a wr tips a ball to a defender late in the game I would call that lucky. We just put up 28 points on the 2nd or 3rd best team in the NFC on the road.

Euphoria, Are you kidding me? I was going to say more on this subject but I just don't know what else to say right now. The line play they're best game of the year and I'm going to enjoy it it all week, I hope you do the same. |
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
I have heard/read all of the comments about how bad our offensive and defensive lines have played all year. They really haven't play that badly. Until last night, they weren't positioned to get the most out of what they bring to the field (Payton/Gibbs/Marrone). Blocking for Reggie/Stecker is not like blocking for Duece - different backs needing different angles of attack. Duece benefitted from and loved running up Karney's back. FINALLY Payton decided to lead Bush with Karney and everything opened up - ONCE AGAIN. Reggie won't break many tackles, and with Karney he will definitely have fewer to break. Added pressure on the defensive side helped those boys tremendously also. PROPS to both O and D lines.

Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
2 straight games... 0 sacks.
|
Re: Great blocking by our O-Line
Both lines (Offense and Defense) looked much improved last night. The pocket they were giving Brees was nothing short of incredible. The run blocking late in the second half "looked" more spotty, but in reality Sean Payton was calling a very conservative game to move the clock. Not hard to play D against an offense that you KNOW is going to run every play. I'll give them a pass for what appeared to be a late game fall-off, due to that fact.

All Euph has been saying is that the Saints need a top notch line on both sides of the ball to be consistenly competitive. The Haz regieme drafted top linemen. Check out this draft tracker: NFL Draft Tracker New Orleans Saints, 1995 to 2007 - FF Today From 2000-2005 a lineman was drafted in either the first or second round (with the exception of 2001). In the last 2 drafts no linemen have been drafted in the top two rounds. The only problem I have with Euph's stance is that nothing can be done about it now 5 games into the season. It's an off season issue. Let's get a letter writing campaign going in February and March. Right now the only thing to figure out is how to best utilize the players that we currently have on the roster for maximum performance. How can a line with only one potential pro bowler be effective? THIS team, just played their best game of the year. Was it perfect....no, but, I saw alot of improvement. If they continue to play this way and, AND get better, we will be just fine. This first win should be the cure they need. to start fixing in-house problems. Why be negative about this win?????? Hell, we won! Let's party like it's 1999! |

It's a band-aid fix. Wins will never be consistent. The line needs to vastly improve in talent in order to be effective long term. Don't let a single win cover up the real problems. How close am I to the mark Euph? SFIAH |

I'll be better next week, I'm taking a few days off and going to Vegas. Maybe I won't even look at this board. It would help to hear some positive comments from time to time though.:) |
