NO Reason to Panic over the OL

Re: NO Reason to Panic over the OL
I thought the OL looked much better last night, it showed with how well Brees played...
Our defense looked really good also... Let's keep it going and all stay positive... I will enjoy this win all week, I hope you all do the same. |
Re: NO Reason to Panic over the OL
Great post, Hagan.
Faneca wants Hutchinson money...a lot. Didn't he and Pitt have contract disputes in the offseason? Did he get the tag? Can't remember. As for the Rooks, that kid from Boise St is a stud. He's an all-american and straight up handled all my beloved Golden Eagles could throw at him. He might be an interesting late pick if he slid. |
Re: NO Reason to Panic over the OL
Good blog.
Here may be a good indication that we dont have far to go. Only givin up 4 sacks this year puts us 1 behind Colts for fewest allowed so far. Of course with an early bye that is with 1 fewer game than most put we have been throwin alot so far. Also with offensive penalties we are leading the league with the fewest called at 19. It is a good sign of coachin and being focused not to have alot of false starts, illegal procedure, and holding calls. They have at least been playin some clean ball without alot of stupid mistakes. Seems like in the past we have always had some problems with the false start and that is hard to explain why a team would make that mistake. You cant keep movin backwards on offense and expect to be successful. |
Re: NO Reason to Panic over the OL
Well I think Jammal Brown looked like his old self the past two weeks, I mean, how many LTs in the NFL can say they held Carolina DEs Julius Peppers, Mike Rucker and Seattle rush LB Julian Peterson to a total of 0 sacks in consecutive weeks. That alone is extremely impressive, I think injuries contributed to his slow start this season, but over the last two weeks he looks like the LT that was voted a Pro Bowl starter last year by his peers. It will make a Hugh difference for the O-Line if he's healthy and playing at the dominant Pro Bowl level he displayed last year.

The O-Line is good, and is getting better.

I will say they have played better. I think they still need to get better, too. Reggie needs some holes opened.

Brown looked good but Faine is still crap.

Re: NO Reason to Panic over the OL
The line looked like a friggin' brick wall on pass protection against Seattle.
That being said, Seattle isn't great. Not bad, just not great on the D line. Perhaps if they build a little more confidence, and get a little more nasty in the trenches, they may be able to look like something before the season's tanked! |
