Interesting article about Pierre Thomas

Pierre outplayed a 4th round pick to earn a spot on the roster, and I wanted to check his numbers from college. Ron Zook apparently had running back by committee down there, so Thomas didn't get as many touches. But the article does mention his prowess between the tackles, which i think we've seen from him as a saint.

Check out his injury history, particuarly the calf bruise. To me, Thomas has looked like a very strong runner, but Zook implies that he lacked the toughness to be a staple in the Illinois backfield.

One thing (like Bush) that won't be debated is this kid's heart. I think we've struck some gold in getting a real solid contributor with great vision as a rookie FA. More "under the radar" than even Colston was. While losing Deuce is certainly crippling, Thomas allows us to maintain some presence inside.

I like the guy a lot. He is only going to get more playing time as the season progresses. It's not a bad thing to gradually get a rookie some playing time, oppose to throwing him to the wolves. He should be a solid contributor down the stretch.
