Brees, Cole and Hanson named NFC Players of the Week
New York, NY (Sports Network) - New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Trent Cole and Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson were chosen as the NFC's top players for Week 8 of the NFL season.

Brees was selected as the top offensive player, as he completed 31-of-39 passes for a season-high 336 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in a 31-10 victory over San Francisco.

Cole picked up the defensive award after posting 13 tackles and two sacks in Philadelphia's 23-16 victory over Minnesota. He leads the NFL with nine sacks this season, including 7 1/2 in the past five games.

Hanson received the special teams honor, as his three field goals helped the Lions to a 16-7 win at Chicago. He became the seventh player in NFL history to kick at least three field goals in 50 games.
