Saints Brand One of the Strongest
According to the Turnkey Brand Index, the New Orleans Saints are the 7th strongest brand of all major sports in North America. The survey includes the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS.
In relation to its own market compared to other markets, the Pittsburgh fans have a greater affinity for their football team than New Orleanians do for the Saints. That is profoundly disappointing. |

Unfortunately, the link will cost you $5,000. I was watching M&M on ESPN2 when they flashed that data.

Of every place I have been in the US and abroad there has been always a lot of Steelers fans. Hell those bastards travel to SD by the thousands to see there team play. YOu can't find a hotel in SD when Pitt travels there. You got give props to there loyalty.

Re: Saints Brand One of the Strongest
I am in a different city almost very week.
no doubt steelers. for a while last year there were a bunch of band wagoners and I would see saints gear in Seattle. I was even finding Cajun restaurants running the saints game in South Dakota. really. I didn't even see that in 2000. I don't know if the storybook/reggie bush thing got a few on board - but it is still hard to find saints fans at the bar or gear at the sotre outside the gulf coast. but I can only find steelers, cowboys, redskins, patriots, colts, and whoever the nearest local team is in the truck stop. so I find "top 5" brand hard to believe. |

Re: Saints Brand One of the Strongest
Bloody hell! Hard to imagine. I seemed like I was the only Saints fan in the UK in the 80s. Practically famous for it. Christmas meant many small Saints stuff from friends who really made an effort.
Still "felt alone" when I came over for games in the early 90s. Look, I never saw anyone taking the Saints seriously. The Saints seemed almost "my team". But I was more than "cool" when I wore my Dalton Hilliard shirt. Now we have a phenomenon, a bitter-sweet phenomenon. New coach, oh come on, new blinking team (with Brees / Bush / over-performing unknowns moulded around the old school of Deuce, Horn...) on the back of nature's revenge Katrina and the controversies of how on earth the most powerful nation could not reduce the suffering. I am telling ya, getting Brees and Bush will be the stuff of legends. We had fantasy mixed with all that could be written about human strife. It could not happen, but it did. |
