Playoffs, not Power Rankings, after Week 9
 

Hey, instead of instituting a profoundly gay B&G power ranking, why not just post which teams you think will make the playoffs for each conference, in order of their finish? Serves somewhat of the same purpose and sets up for discussions of the potential matchups. And you can update it each week!

Like Euph has said, Power rankings are significant for college fb because the University Presidents are too chicken to have a playoff system and prefer having a beauty contest instead of an on-the-field championship. Power rankings are stupid for the NFL because the best teams in each conference make the playoffs, where the real season begins.

(3) New Orleans 11-5 vs (6) Detroit 11-5
(4) Seattle 10-6 vs (5) NY Giants 12-4

AFC
(1) NE 16-0 bye
(2) Indy 14-2 bye
(3) Pittsburgh 12-4 vs (6) CLE 10-6
(4) Kansas City 9-7 vs (5) Tenn 12-4

I think I kind of see the NFC creeping back up on the AFC. We have more competitive teams this year than in past years. And they're doing it with defense mostly (that's the key).

Yeah, I'll agree they have Indy and NE and they are share crowned SB picks every year. I guess, my question is, is the NFC like the SEC and beat the crap out of each other during the season?

As some media head stated during SB 41.5 week: Indy and NE are in a league of their own.

As for the rest, it's probably closer to parity. Each of the next level of AFC teams (Pittsburg, Tennesee) have NFC losses this season.
Don't think so. The bottom line is that there's been 10 years of AFC dominance at the top. The current top 3 teams in the AFC have won the last 4 Super Bowls and it seems likely that the streak will extend to 5 after this season. The top of the AFC is clearly better than the top of the NFC. The other point is that the top of the AFC is consistent. Indy, NE, and Pittsburg are always around at the end in the AFC championship and the Super Bowl. Look at the NFC champions during this run. The Falcons? The Rams? The Bears? The Eagles? The Panthers? where the heck are they?

The top 3 or 4 in the AFC have built teams to beat each other. However, the NFC hasn't yet built a team designed to beat the top of the AFC group. Imagine if Indy, NE, or Pittsburg were in the NFC this year. They'd be a lock for a SB berth from the NFC. There's no current NFC team that meets this standard. Dallas? Green Bay? Detroit?? The Saints?

Until some GM builds a team that can take on Indy, NE, and Pittsburg, the NFC will be the JV.
I'm hoping that Detroit will win the North. There's no way in hell that anyone from the NFC west will win 10 games at this point.
