If Saints run the table, Is Payton Coach of the year?
After goin 0-4, and running the table, wouldnt that make him a lock for it? i know this is months away, but i doubt pats go 16-0, im bettin 50 bucks they loose to the dolphins(you hear it first...) and the browns arent for real, reguardless of the hype, they will loose steam... so why not give it to payton? and why am i still typing? umm think half baked hahaha

None of it matters if the Pats go 16-0 this season. Belecheat will get COY by default.

I'm not sure he has a chance either, not this year. Those first four losses, will kill him in the voting. That's not to say he wouldn't deserve it but I don't think he'll have a chance'

Payton is doing a good job holding the team together through an auspicious start, but I think we vote the schedule makers "NFL administrators of the Year" if we run the table.

To bad there isn't a turnaround award of the year. And with the final 8 games of the shcedule hard to see them not running the table but let's just take this one game at a time. Time to skin some Rams or should they be the St Louis Goats this year?

I would think so. But lets take it one game at time.

Re: If Saints run the table, Is Payton Coach of the year?
Payton would have an excellent shot if he runs the table, but what may go against him is many predicted the Saints to go to the Super Bowl. Usually a coach of the year is a guy that has a team that pretty much comes out of no where. If they hold up, my pick would have to be Mike McCarthy because of the way the Packers have played this year. Starting with the last four games of last season, they have had a remarkable turnaround. Don't forget about that guy in Detroit named Marinelli, he has turned a horrible franchise around so far.

The only way Payton MIGHT have a chance at it is to win the Super Bowl this year. But nothing short of that would do it.

I think you have to at the NFC North for that award. GB has done a great job turning that ship around in two short years. Brett is not the reason for that turn around. Drafting good players has done it. FA has done them well too. They get a RB next year and they could be very dangerous. My vote goes there so far.
Sean has saved the ship this year. Last year he turned it around. |
Re: If Saints run the table, Is Payton Coach of the year?
Anytime you have The Legend (Favre) saying "he changed the way I look at film" and "I've changed some of the old habits I had" you're doing a hell of a job. You also gotta look at Romeo Crenel (sp). I basically called him the worst coach in the league this offseason, so if you base it on exceeding expectations, he's the guy.

Another meaningless award? Sure, why not.

Re: If Saints run the table, Is Payton Coach of the year?
All a big shame. Injuries didn't help. Draft didn't help. Free agency didn't help. Poor player selection didn't help. Play selection didn't help.
I am hurting. Foolishly I became a non-Saint by having expectations. Foolish, foolish, foolish. Who Dat |
