CB options?
Based on Profootball Weekly, Jason David was one of the worst (#4) FA signings of 2007;
Features - NFL pro football articles and coverage from Pro Football Weekly With the play, or lack there of, of David, I can only assume (or hope) that CB will be addressed in FA this year. Who would people like to see the Saints go after, and realistically do you think there would be a chance of getting them? Starting CB’s who will hit FA: Jason Webster (Buf), Michael Lehan (Mia), Asante Samuel (NE), Nnamdi Asomugha (Oak), Drayton Florence (SD), Travis Fisher (Det), Marcus Trufant (Sea). Based on past history, I would pretty much guarantee that the Saints wouldn’t be willing to fork out the cash needed to go after A. Samuel, I can also assume that Oakland won’t let Asomugha walk, nor will Seattle let Trufant walk. That leaves the picking’s pretty slim. Webster is off on IR this year, but is only a stop gap measure at best; Fisher is a cover 2 type CB which David has already shown doesn’t work in New Orleans. Don’t know a lot about Lehan. What are the opinions of Florence? I don’t think that the Chargers would work too hard to hold on to him, as it looks like Cromartie has shown that he’s capable of stepping up. But I believe that Florence is still serviceable. So, other than drafting a CB that is ready to start (or ideally hoping that Usama is ready to step up), what are the options for CB? |
