The Phantom Fumble

If you watch the replay, that was without a doubt, not a fumble. At one point during the replay, it clearly show Reggie Bush on the ground with the ball. Even if he did bobble or lose control of it, he still had it when he was on the ground. It was after that, that the Texans wrestled the ball away.

Did anyone else notice that on replay?

Definitely Pontiac's game changing moment.

Glad someone else saw it too. I knew they probably would not overturn the ruling, but when I saw it on the replay that Bush was laying near the goal line with the ball while he was down; I thought that it might be enough evidence that he had possession of the ball while on the ground, regardless of whether or not he had bobbled it. Hence, he had recovered his own fumble.
Ultimately, I believe that this was payback for the Houston fumble, which was also an "iffy" call.

It was bullcrap....plain and simple.

I agree. Sequence of events:
1. Bush has the ball.
2. He runs forward, disappearing into the pile.
3. He is then shown on the ground with the ball.

It seems to me that there needs to be a precedence in those calls. Something akin to "a tie goes to the runner" in baseball. When I watched that play it was obvious that the refs had no F'n clue what happened.

This is something that happens a lot. Refs have no idea what happened on a play so they just "flip a coin" mentally and roll with it. Same thing happened last night with the VY touchdown. The ref that was standing right at the pylon had no clue.

In the pile Reggie was in, I rreally don't think there's anyway a ref could have made the judgment that was made. But in the replay, you have to have definite proof that the ref was wrong. There was no way they were going to go back and change that call, no matter if it were right or wrong.

I saw that too. I went crazy. I believe it cost the SAINTS the game.
