Bush really isn't the problem. He's worked well in the year and a half thay he's been here.

Trading the pick would have been foolish from a PR standpoint. Trading the pick if Bush had been picked first may have worked. But it's been nearly two years later and Houston is still being panned for picking Williams.

At the time the Saints needed more than a football player (or two or three). They needed an icon to rally around. Bush has filled that role admirably.

I posit that if the Saints had not picked Bush and done well last year, they would not in fact still be in the region. That's how important picking Bush was.

Not picking Reggie would have been a marketing disaster. He has contributed to the play of this team last year and this year. I don't think he's been used right this year but I'm not the coach either. Reggie was difinitly the right pick for the Saints last year. Tradin g him for picks would have given us more players but how do we know they would have worked out? We don't. Anyway, I agree with SFIAH Reggie was the pick.

How has the 2006 draft worked out? Lets see we go from 3-13 to 10-6. I would have to say that worked out pretty good. Going from 3-13 to a 1st round bye in the playoffs that is a good turnaround in 1 year. Having the 2nd pick in the draft and getting the best player in the draft is a good deal. How about that draft making it to the divisional championship game for the 1st time in franchise history?
No matter who is chosen in our draft some people will say it was a good choice and others will say we had bigger needs in other areas or the other side of the ball. It is also very easy to judge the talent a year or two later after we get to watch them play. The coaches dont have that luxury they have to make a choice on what the scouts tell them and take a chance that the player lives up to the potential.
