this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; It doesn't matter that the yards are spread amongst 3 players, we rushed for 106 yards by our running backs and won. I think there is a lesson in there somewhere....

You guys tell me......did it look to ya'll like the offensive line didn't block as well for Pierre as they did for Reggie? It sure looked slack to me most of the time.

What's to be learned is: A consistent offense is acheivable if there is a bit of a running threat. The running threat doesn't have to win the game, but it should still be used. Sure, fun and gun works sometimes, but when it doesn't it leads to a grossly inconsistent offense. Sound familiar? Our Yards-Per-Run average would have been higher had we not tried to run out the clock in the last quarter. As I've said above, we stopped passing and Carolina stopped defending the pass. Our running game was really, really effective today. |
