Another win beating up on the wounded and confused

While I love the win on the road, this win didn't really demonstrate anything other than the 2007 Saints are mediocre at best. Same issues with penalties, continuity, inability to run, play selection, poor blocking, poor tackling, and unenthusiastic play will hunt this team down against a better (read healthy) opponent.

JD has got to be the all time worst FA acquisition. If it weren't for his inadvertant knee in the back of Steve Smith's leg, he would have thrown a goose egg for productivity. 10 men on the field would be better.

If the Saints actually beat up on the Bucs next week, I might give them a break and move them up to incompetent. At this point, they've not proven anything.

I'll have more to say because I'm tired and overserved in the GD. Trust it won't be complementary.

How do you figure the running game was unproductive?

It's the reason why we won.

Maybe you guys play too many video games.

I'm willing to debate this entire post, though. Well, aside from Jason David. He IS horrible.

I'll keep checking back.

The Saints running game does leave a lot to be desired, but today, it did help put a big win on the board. The fact that the Saints just stuck with it was huge. Also, remember that Carolina is historically a hard team to run against. Overall it was an excellent game plan.

I'll save xan the effort:

I don't know how to tell you this but I don't even own a video game. I did however play the game a while. So please don't aim your remarks about video games at me. I do know a little something about the game.

And yes, Jason David is horrible.

Great win the Saints! I'm proud of them!

Let's go beat the Bucs!

Re: Another win beating up on the wounded and confused

Coach Sean Payton had planned most of the week to use Stecker and Thomas against the Panthers, and he was pleasantly surprised that Bush was able to play as much as he did.

"(Bush) missed Friday's practice, and I felt like we needed to come in and have some balance in the running game," Payton said. "With that being said, we got Aaron and Pierre going a little bit in some of the core personnel groups, and we were able to utilize Reggie.

". . . I didn't think come game time that (Bush's injury) would be a factor. It's just the pain. And when you play running back, there's a chance you're going to get hit there, you're going to get banged there and it's going to be sore. It's managing the pain, and in Friday's practice it swelled a little bit. So I was pleased with his playing time, and he gave us some juice a little bit, as did Aaron and Pierre. I though we had good balance, a good mix."

A win is a win in my book... I could careless if it was against one of the worst offenses in the league.

On the side note, Carolina's D isn't exactly what I'd call bad.

Combined rushing over 100 yards. I think that's acceptable.

Now, tell me their running game wasn't effective! The runs at the end (mainly by Pierre Thomas) weren't that great because we were running out the clock and no longer had a pass threat. Carolina no longer defended the pass and just came out to stop the run. However, for the first 3-quarters, we'd average ATLEAST 4-yards a carry.

Carolina's D didn't know what to do.

(And, of course, Jamie Martins 1-yard losses are from taking kneels.)

Sometimes, I wonder about you guys...

But, it's all love 'cause, come Sunday, we're all wearing Black and Gold.

Not bad by a long shot. Marshall was a BEAST in that game. And so was Beason. If I could have these names on my roster, I'd be in Heaven. Lucas, Gamble, Peppers, Rucker, Jenkins, Kemoeatu... not to mention Thomas Davis. I'm probably missing others I'd love to have as well.

No, they most certainly are "not bad".

Re: Another win beating up on the wounded and confused

I'll be the sacraficial lamb here...Jason David showed marked improvement Sunday. Smith caught a ball early, but was out of bounds and there was the interferance call, but in both situations, he was there to make a play which is more than you can say for past games. IIRC, he had one or two nice PD's, too. If he plays the rest of the season like he did Sunday, considder me pleased.

DISCLAIMER #1: He's still a terrible CB and should be sent packing. All I'm saying is he was serviceable against a really good WR...and at this point, I'll take servicable over what we've had at the #2CB.

DISCLAIMER #2: I couldn't tivo and watch the game again, so I may be totally wrong.

I'll take serviceable if we continue to win. I hope David gets better... we need him to get better.

However I still was on the edge of my seat everytime I saw David man coverage on Smith... and it was a horrible feeling.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire game. I've learned to not trust this team at all.

Honestly, Carolina's performance was nothing short of terrible. Carr is a bum, they have no running game. The O-line was bad. The D-Line was awful. Outside of Marshall, Lucas and Smith, that team has packed it in for the season. Little solace can be taken in that victory.

Agreed... got that needed W though. At least we finally beat a team we were suppose to beat.

Have to say it is fun that way. Watching the pats demolish teams gets a bit boring for me. I find myself flipping channels. LOL

Saints really needed to win this game and they won so that's all that counts and I'm one happy Saints fan tonight.
It would have been worst if they would have lost, no? I think not.
The players know what's at stake right not and I feel that they'll beat the Bucs putting us only one game back, I also feel that the Bucs have a lost coming they're way and that will be on the road @ Houston.
Fans should be happy the Saints won which gives us hope again, that's all we can ask for right now.
