McKenzie setting up the tone.
Since no one is giving props to him, I'm going to. MM was tested early and he responded, which I thought set up the tone for the defense, making plays on Steve Smith.
... on a side note, the one thing I can't explain, is why the Panthers didn't match Drew Carter with 3rd Down.. |
Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
Great great game by Mike... someone needed to step up and lead that secondary. Hopefully this will continue.

Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
He broke up a lot of passes, yeah. I thought he played well. Wish he could've held onto one.
The one play I'm going to rag on him for is that fumble he should've recovered. Instead of dropping onto the ball, he tried to scoop it up on the run. And got tackled from behind while trying to do it. Other than that, great game MM. |
Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
McKenzie is the most solid in the secondary, has been all year...........

Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
He played like he was possessed.
The thing about it, though is sometimes he's too aggressive. If he misses his tackle or shot at an interception, the WR has a clear path to the endzone. However, I'd take his aggressive play, hard hits, and the chance for turnovers rather than just have him sitting back and letting the WR dictate how he covers. Props for MM! |

Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
I've loved watching Mike McKenzie ever since he played for GB. No one can ever say that he gives up, he's always there and checked in to play.
I'll grant you that sometimes he gets a little overzealous but I'll take that anyday over the alternative. |
Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
MM rocks...him and harper are the bright points of the secondary.

Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
Hollis and M&M both have that defensive mentality that we need. Aggressive with a nasty streak. Imagine a CB good enough to force M&M to the #2 roll. Now we are talking. I hope young reads this. I am counting on him.

(My problem is that I remember having really high hopes of Eric Allen back in the 90s but felt he took our money without playing). Quote:

Both are playing very well right now. We need that to spread among the rest of the defense. The defense did play better Sunday though.

However, when he feels inspired, he plays more ferociously than anyone else on the field. He's extremely aggressive and confident and it steps up his game. I also think he's managed to readjust his technique over the past few seasons and has once again obtained a level of excellence. |
Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
usama young needs to be our #2 and get J.D, out. I know he makes a lot of money but he is just too short and not that good.

Re: McKenzie setting up the tone.
call me crazy but i think MM plays well every year! he might not be the best corner in the league but ....thinking before i say this......yeah i believe he is the best in our division. hall is good too but has a attitude problem. MM's problem is that he has never had support in the secondary until now a little with harper. I believe Craft could give him some help but i am not one of those guys that likes to tell coaches who to play. they obviously know more than any of us.
