.. wonder what Jake Plummer would've done.

With all of the teams sporting a 21 sticker on their helmets this past Sunday to "honor" S. Taylor, I wonder what Jake Plummer would've done if he still was in the league.

If you don't recall, Jake Plummer was denied permission to sport the number 40 in similar fashion after the death of Pat Tillman, since he wasn't with the Cardinals any longer, and only the Cardinals had the right to wear that sticker.

If anyone needed to be "honored" (and I put honored between quotation marks because to me these are merely PR moves by the league) by everyone in the NFL wearing stickers on their helmets, it was Pat Tillman, regardless of how you feel about Iraq.

With Sean Taylor, well, sure he got shot and killed, but the circumstances were extremely different. Yet, we have an entire league, which is supposedly made up of "manly men", go all mushy over a shooting death that sure is tragic, yet it's not much different that the thousands of shooting deaths that occur in the US every year.

I know that I would not have worn that 21 sticker, unless I were a Redskin.

On a related note, I watched a little of the Whiners game last Sunday, and the 21 sticker was 3 times the size of the BW sticker...

Boy, do I ever agree. If anyone deserves to be honored it was Pat Tillman. I also agree that the shooting of Taylor was a terrible thing. I can undersatnd everyone wanting to support his family in this manner but I also think tha Tillman should have had the same rights. Seems the league is a little bit lopsided. Of course, when was the last time the league did anything right?

So true sam. All depends on the capital gains that can be had. It is a cold hearted business that tries to convince you other wise

Anyone's death in a shooting is tragic, of course!

But at the same time Sean Taylor was NOT an angel or a high character man by any means.

Only thing ESPN sensed was a viewer ratings spike because it was so unexpected - next thing you know they're just WEARING it out, and I mean riding that story until the wheels fell completely off the wagon.

Shame on ESPN for that. They're in the business to make money, and turn a tragic story into dollar signs. Tillman, I'm guessing was just not big-name enough for ESPN, nor the NFL to properly respect and give due to a true hero.

Amen! And Tillman should have been treated better by the NFL and the Army. His family wasn't treated right by either one.

ESPN should be driving this angle into the ground. Opps sorry that may cause a riff between the to bed fellows.
