The Saints had accepted the opening kickoff and began at their own 21 and quickly picked up 11 yards on a completion from Drew Brees to Mike Karney. On the second play from scrimmage, Aaron Stecker picked up 10 yards but fumbled the football after being stripped by S Aaron Francisco. The loose ball was recovered by LB Darryl Blackstock and returned 34 yards to the Saints’ 8 yard-line.
