If about.com is right we are drafting in the #10 spot. Second to choice among all the 7-9 and teams. So one thing worked out for us in the end, By use loosing and all the other games finishing the way they did, We jumped up 4 spots in the draft.

This is historically a gold mind pick. Teams trading up to get top ten fallers and the fact that it has the best chance of getting a solid starter. Combine hype and all that Bull have little effect on this spot in the draft. Look for the Saints to be wheeling and dealing.

With the draft pick here, IMO, the saint would do well to hit the CB position in FA hard and get at least to young solid up coming CB. Unless we trade down or some of the Jr. come out we would be reaching big time here. Right now I like the ones I high lighted. Jackson is my impact player selection. But lets see what happens with the Jr. first. besides that is way to much money tied up on one position.

Time to start talking to Dallas about trading down. Hey Jerry you game? Heck trade up only to trade back again. I am game for it.

What about trading 1st round positions and the Cowboys throwing in their 2nd and Bobby Carpenter as lagniappe? He does not seem to fit the Cowboys 3/4 scheme.

Bobby was over hyped in the draft. Nothing against him, I like that idea myself. But the glaring need we have is WLB. That is why if Briggs can be had we should go after him strong. He would free Grant up. That would give you a double return on the investment. So I say take the picks and skip the player. Unless you think Bobby could be a MLB in a 4-3. Can he become a WLB and make the impact we need? That is a gamble I am not sure I would take. Besides he maybe a cap causality soon. he is only playing on special teams. He gets cut and you can save a boat load of money

If we trade back just a few spots, land briggs and get CBs in FA,

James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio State Jr, 6-3, 244
At 6-3, 240 pounds and with great speed, Laurinaitis can do it all at linebacker and he has the experience to make an instant impact. Well, if Jenkins off the board, the Saints upgrade its MLB position with the Little Animal. Laurinaitis would be a significant upgrade over Mark Simoneau. The Saints also would get James father, “The Animal” as a supporter, and it’s always nice to have a guy like that on your side. My gut say the Pats take him though

OK thats my wet dream. Add a CB/S type in round 2 and we are on way.

Kenny Phillips, S, Miami (FL) 6-1.5, 205, 4.55
Problems abound on the defensive side of the ball for the disappointing Saints, especially in the secondary. He's definitely the best safety on the board. We all know how much Sean loves safeties.

Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC, 6-1, 305, 4.95
It’s no secret that the Saints have been a disappointment this season, and a lot of their struggles have been on defense. USC DT Sedrick Ellis is a big DT with a motor who can get after the passer as well as stuff the run. As a senior, Ellis recorded 8.5 sacks, which is extremely impressive for an interior defensive lineman. Keep an eye one his height. It is report he is closer to 6-0 than 6-1.

Look for QB hungry clubs like bears to trade up if any of the top QB fall to us.

I'm just hoping we have a better draft than last season because the Saints need a lot of new players to improve next season, FA will be the key though, we need some one who can fill in right way.

Jenkins, Laurinaitis, or Phillips in the first round. Haynesworth in FA. Briggs if possible, but Haynesworth is a must.

DO NOT ask for Carpenter.....The Cowboys would jump at that, as he is seen as a bust, and one of parcells worst draft picks.

Haynesworth...that man screams roids to me. He's been arrested twice since being in the leauge for problems with his wife and girlfriend. He also tried to step on a mans head *without the helmet* during a game last season.

Funny how no one brings that up in this year though.
