Brees still managed to keep the Saints competitive and finished with 320 yards and three touchdown passes. But it was an uphill battle from the start.

"It seems like the game was similar (to last season's NFC championship game loss at Chicago), in the way that they started and the way it played out," Brees said. "For me as a quarterback, there's a big difference between being 7-9 and 8-8. Nobody wants a losing season, so that's very, very disappointing. Plus, you want to end the season on a high note, regardless of what your record is."

Brees won't take much solace in the records he set this season, but here they are anyway:
