greg williams skins dc let go

man it would be so awesome if we hired him and let Gibbs go
i know a lot of people think gibbs won't get replaced but i was thinking that everyone was probably right since there was no one jobless that could do better
now there is so now i'm hopefull
'Skins replace coordinators Williams, Saunders

Re: greg williams skins dc let go

Hire them both... The Redskins released Gregg Williams and Al Saunders.

β€œI want to thank Gregg and Al for all they did for the team,” team owner Daniel M. Snyder said. β€œIn particular, during our most difficult time last year, they both helped hold the team together as we kept moving forward. I am confident they will continue to be successful in the years ahead.”

Payton will NEVER fire Gibbs.

They are a package. Just like Haz and Venturi were a package.

Beat me to the punch, Supes. I was talking to my brother who informed me of the firing. He asks the question:

Quote:

Are the Saints serious about winning a championship?
Williams has an outstanding defensive philosophy. Would the Saints be willing to pull the trigger on Gibbs?

Sadly I too have to agree with CB. We're in another situation where the organization isn't willing to do what it takes to win a championship, which in this instance is upgrading the coaching staff.

Sigh.

Somebody in our division will get him and they will D us up.

Re: greg williams skins dc let go

Letting Gibbs go and hiring Williams falls under the "too good to be true" category for this franchise. The saints would never do something that makes so much sense.

Not only that, but hiring Williams would probably help us lure in some defensive FAs, Im sure there are plenty in the league that would want to play under his scheme.

Re: greg williams skins dc let go

Ya got to cut your losses. Fire Gibbs and hire Williams plain and simple he the best out there. Gibbs is not. You play the best players hire the best coaches.

Hire Al also.

If we were reading this about another team, I'd be laughing at their fan base for loving a team that doesn't make moves that helps them win consistently.

It's 45 steps beyond Pathetic that this happens with team that we love ALL THE TIME!!!!!

The obvious improvments are NEVER made.x(

I love the saints more than anything and want them to succeed, but at the same time I'm a realist. It may be sad, it may be pathetic, but a lot of us here all live and die for the black and gold, no matter how bad those guys perform. I just know better than to get my hopes up.

Like most of you, I too live and die for the black and gold.
I like all of you, spend $1,000's of dollars on this team every year.
I no longer get my hopes up. I do get MADD at the reality of the situation though.

I get mad, actually its probably a bit closer to furious....but I usually end up laughing at the situation (though its more of that maniacal, I'm going crazy kind of laugh.)

I just noticed lastweek how little Cognac I drink when the Saints aren't playing.

CB I'm right there with 'ya... I manage to make the first home game every year and when you add flight, hotel, dining, drinks, merchandise, casino, etc... it gets way past ugly.

Despite what the organization has shown us for decades, I can't give up on the fact that things will be different "this year". My optimism is fading.

Guess free agency will be the first glimpse into what '08 has in store...

I want to see what Gibbs does if they let him sign better FA and draft defense. I am just wondering thats all.

Gibbs didn't do much in Dallas with Pro-bowl defensive players.

Re: greg williams skins dc let go

I am actually going to take up for Gibbs. Right now, he is coaching out of his element. The Saints need to get him the players that he needs to be successful. That is simply a transformation to the 3-4 scheme that Gibbs works best with. It would take a major over hall, but a major over hall is needed already. Why the Saints played the last two seasons in the typical 4-3 scheme is just beyond me.

With that in mind, remember before he came here The Tuna and Gibbs had just spent two years drafting and signing FA to switch to the 34 defense. So Gibbs only worked with the group for a couple of years. It takes time to build a defense. Right now you are seeing the fruits of his labor. So I am not going to ride anybody out of town just yet. Sean is safe because the two years spent building the offense has worked out great, It is still a work in progress and done yet. So lets see what happens with the defense, now that the offense is ahead of schedule in the rebuilding plan.

Orgeron will help Gibss tremendously. Gibbs as a few have said will never be fired. Gibbs is not a bad DC either and you'll see that once he gets some DB's and DL to help him a bit.

Re: greg williams skins dc let go

Yea one of Haz's downfalls was not firing Venturi, predicting it wont be any different for Payton.

I'll hope for the best.
