“This is a unique and exciting opportunity for our team, and we’re very proud to represent our region and our great fans when we travel to the United Kingdom,” Benson said. “The national and international exposure our team, our city and our state will receive will be unprecedented.

“We were asked to do it and we accepted after talking to a lot of people and (deciding) what we thought was going to be the best for everybody concerned,” he said. “What a showcase we’re going to have.”

The Saints will give up one of their home games, which means they’ll play two exhibition games and seven regular-season games in the Superdome during the 2008 season.
