According to NFL Network reports, last night at a Atlanta nightclub Charles Grant was stabbed in the neck and a pregnant woman was shot and killed. They gave no other details. I just googled and there is no add'l news yet.

This is crazy... I hope he's alright. RIP to the victim.

GRANT STABBED IN ATLANTA

Eight years after an infamous Super Bowl night stabbing in Atlanta, there's been another knife incident involving an NFL player.

This time around, however, the player was on the wrong end of the blade.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Saints defensive end Charles Grant was stabbed in the neck during a Saturday night fight in an Atlanta nightclub. A woman was shot and killed during the melee.

Grant is expected to be okay, but police will want to interview Grant, if they haven't already, regarding the events that ultimately claimed a woman's life.

More details are expected to come in as the day unfolds.

This is terrible news. Why cant people just go out and behave themselves. Now our star DE is probably going to be done for his career!

Apparently Grant's injury is minor and he's suppose to be in police custody I think. Supposely he was stopping his cousin from shooting someone and in the process the female victim got shot. Then the guy who Grant stopped from getting shot stabbed Grant. This is unconfirmed though as I got it from Mean Machine of the Rev... it's probably on the SR too.

I just read on this site that a guy said it was not charles grant. He said he was in Houston last night. This might be one of those cant believe everything you read, as far as him "NOT" being stabbed.

Whether or not he was caught in the middle of a bad situation or one of its causes remains to be seen, but this is a terrible event with terrible timing for the NFL, who doesn't need another incident -- especially one involving a late-night altercation -- to mar its biggest game (surprisingly, the league's own house network picked up the sad story while ESPN has yet to even run it on its crawl). Either way, a woman and her unborn child have lost their lives and a man might be seriously injured. Makes Spygate seem rather trivial.

Just caught a news story of Charles Grant getting stabbed outside of a Georgia night club when a fight spilled over into the streets. He was treated and released from a local hospital, but there was fallout during the incident: pregnant woman was shot and killed...probably not his fault but he is caught up in the mix. I'll keep digging and see what else I can find.

New Orleans defensive end Charles Grant was stabbed in the neck, and a pregnant woman was shot and killed early Sunday in an altercation at a nightclub in southwest Georgia. Grant was assaulted and had an injury to his neck, according to a statement released by Capt. Will Caudill of the Early County Sheriff's Office. Grant was transported to Early Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and later released. Early County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a fight around 1 a.m. Sunday at a nightclub in Blakely, which is about 190 miles southwest of Atlanta.

"We're aware of the situation and are gathering information," New Orleans Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said. "Until we complete the process, we will have no further comment."

In the incident, 23-year-old Korynda Reed of Blakely was shot, police said. She was transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala., where she died. Early County Sheriff Jimmie R. Murkerson said Reed was pregnant.

No arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation.

A star at the University of Georgia, Grant was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft.

Grant, a native of Colquitt, Ga., who now lives in Kenner, La., had 2 1/2 sacks in 2007 while starting 14 games for the Saints. During his six-year career, Grant has 38 1/2 sacks.

WHY WHY WHY?????
Espn outside the lines was all about players being victims of attacks yesterday. I saw no mention of Grant during the SB, did I miss it? The NFL was trying to keep the story quiet until after the casual fan was done with the S.B. Bad job by the NFL I guess they were too busy destroying the spygate tapes.
