Darn, football is over...
I truly hate and love this time of the year. I am kind of glad I will not be stuck in front of that damn TV, but this is the start of the painful off-season for NFL fans. I guess our next dose is free agency, then the draft in late April.
What do you guys do in the off-season? For me, I guess I will be a little bit of a better husband, like go shopping on Sunday... Gee... My wife likes Nascar so I guess I am kind of stuck with that on Sunday. I actually hate Nascar, so I will probably just grab a beer or 12 while it's on. A good thing is the Mississippi Braves will crank it up in early April. I love baseball so I guess my off-season won't be so bad. Minor league baseball is a wonderful thing. Screw the majors, except on opening day. Opening day is historically the day I always call in sick to work. LOL. |
Re: Darn, football is over...
Well, I've been on major hiatus as it is, so I will be getting back to the books I guess. Would love to see "ocho cinco" in black and gold. That would rock! Although, I am sure someone will call him a cancer, and a blow hard, therefore he can't play the game. : )

Re: Darn, football is over...
To me one of the most interesting aspects of the NFL season ist the draft and the FA so I'm kinda excited about that. I think its interesting to see and try to predict how one move gonna send ripples troughout the leauge.
And my own season starts in may with a couple of pre-season games in april so I'm all good. |

I record NFL live every day to keep track of what's going on. My plan is to continue my education crusade that defense wins championships and that the Saints organization, players, and fans need to be deeply committed to developing an outstanding defensive football team. For example... Quote:
Johnson isn't a luxury that the Saints can afford. I'd much rather see a huge athletic DT that can stuff the run and get to the QB like Justin Tuck was doing in the Super Bowl last Sunday. Or an outstanding MLB like Rivers or Connor. I'd like to see a scheme where insurance salesmen don't like like Joe Montana. I'll keep saying it: The Saints already have one of the most productive offenses in football now. On the offensive side of the ball, all they need to do is resign their own free agents. The defense is decimated. On offense, presuming that we resign our free agents, there may be one and only one starting position up for grabs: #2 WR. And we already drafted a #1 pick last year who sould be accounts grab that spot. But on the defensive side of the ball, there are probably 6 available starting slots that need to be filled, DT, 2 LBs, 2 CBs, safety. Probably KK can take over for Bullocks, and maybe Young is ready to be a player in this league. But the other slots? We don't have the players on this team to play in those positions. So this offseason, talk defense. Think defense. Want defense. That's the mission this offseason. SFIAH |

Golf.
Lots and lots of golf. |
Re: Darn, football is over...
NASCAR BABY!!!!!!
Base ball sucks right now. Basketball....well other than keeping up with the Hornets, just isn't as appealing as it use to be. Hockey, HOCKEY....a Mississippi boy ain't got no business watching hockey. Golf, not as fun as playing. Curling, (For those of you who don't know what that is; it is the Olymipc game where they slide the round stone down a lane and try to knock the other teams stone out of the way) I'm sure there is more to it than that, but being a redneck has it's limitations on vocabulary. I love watching that game!!!!! |

Minor league baseball is great to go watch, kids giving their all for the game making about $1500-2000 a month. Take away the aluminum bats and college games would be fun too. |
Re: Darn, football is over...
I love the off season actually. I love watching personnel moves, scouting players, and the draft. I look forward to it every year.
I'm also a big baseball junkie so I have no qualms. ^_^ |
Re: Darn, football is over...
I am with you paz. Time to dump the cards in your hand that do not work for you and get some new ones.

Re: Darn, football is over...
Well, we do have that pesky presidential election to look forward too. I guess we should check that out at some point. : ) After NFL Live of course.

I love Nascar too, it's my second favorite sport so I'll have something to watch until football season begins. The draft isn't far away so we have that to look forward to also.. My Nascar driver is Dale Jr., GO 88.. |
Re: Darn, football is over...
Beer. Beer, and more beer. When the beer runs out, get more beer.
Sometime inbetween, watch the posts about draft hopefuls (mostly from this board). Same for FA's. And then... you guessed it. More beer. |

I'm with you Papz. I also like the Combine. It's still football season in just the business season. |
