Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
I'd take him over Simenoux at MLB any day of the week! Even at age 35.
Sign him. Please! http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3245927 |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
I was a Dolphin season ticket holder from 2000-2004 (The Ricky Williams/Dave BUMstedt Experience!!) and I have to say that Zach Thomas WAS that team!! His motor never stopped, from whistle to whistle, 4 quarters. 150+ tackles a year. He was a Huge fan favorite and had great post-game interviews. This would be an excellent signing for the Black and Gold.

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
He's better than all of our LB's.

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
We should be on this like stink on a junebug!
Like white on rice in a glass of milk on a paperplate in a snow storm. |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Not the youngest guy in the world, but ill take an upgrade on the D anywhere we can get it
|
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
yeah lol..perfect. sign him to a 3 year contract. ez.
|
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up here. We've always had a tendancy to sign guys towards the tail end of their careers. However, he is better than what we currently have at MLB... wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a visit as long as he's not looking for a lot of money. I'd would also attempt to sign Dan Morgan for the vets minimum... it couldn't hurt either.

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Thomas and Morgan would be great! I still hope we go after Shaun Rogers. Those three would give us a lot of flexibility in the draft.
|
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
I'm all for bringing Zach Thomas to the Saints as long as the Saints understand that the defense is a great big hemorrhaging wound that loses copious amounts of blood (or yards) each week that they play. Thomas is a bandaid. The Saints need lots of gauze (Briggs) and stitches (Haynesworth).
Of course I'm generalizing but I'm sure you get my point. I think that Thomas would be a good pick up for the Saints from a leadership and high motor standpoint but if that happens, let's hope that there will be much more defensive pick ups to come. On a side note, I hope that losing Russ Ball doesn't effect the Saints attempts at signing players this off season. |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Can we count on drafting Dan Conner too? If yes, then yes.

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Good point.

I'd consider taking him at a bargain price. However, if he's expecting anything like the $5.6 million that he was scheduled to make in Miami next year before being cut, I'd seriously have to consider passing. SFIAH |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
at first i woulda said no, but yall talked me into it.........Mickey, get it done!!!!!!

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
I think Zach Thomas can be had for a reasonable price. There is no way he is going to break the bank. Not at 35 and coming off a year that he only played in 5 games due to concussion and headache problems. I guess he is worth a small gamble, but I really do not like concussions, especially with players over 30. If his concussion issues are behind him, (which they never really are), he could probably have another 2 or 3 productive seasons.

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Zach Thomas, concussions ??? i don't know. One play away and then what. I do agree HELL'VA a lot better then what the SAINTS have. I would like to see someone younger. the Seahawks Nico K ( can't spell the last name its Greek )
If Saints history tells us anything, especially under General Manager Mickey Loomis' tenure, the team will be reluctant to open up the pocketbook. |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
ok i got it..........Niko Koutouvides.
|
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Pats will pick him up if he checks out ok. Watch. the dude wants a ring. Sick to think of him added to the mix. money is not the issue

Morgan has played in a grand total of 4 games the past 2 seasons, and he has never finished a season in the NFL. Chris Chandler was more durable. Sack Thomas is 35 and has concussion issues. I know is the offseason, but come on, guys. |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
I'd take him only if:
1) his physical says he is 100% 2) the money is right 3) we still commit to drafting a young buck to bring up through the ranks Given those 3 conditions, I'd tak this guy in a blink! C'mon Payton. Get with it! |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
At least he would be an aging vet with a few pro bowls for the saints retirement home style defense.
|
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
If we could sign both and have them each play 8 games before they get a concussion we'd be in the playoffs. Think about it... Thomas plays the first 8 games while Morgan plays spot duty... then Thomas gets a concussion. And while Morgan starts the next 8 games Thomas is recovering for the playoffs.
I'm kidding... well... not really but kinda. |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
If I had the choice between aging Pro Bowl linebackers, I'd take Ray Lewis. Sorry for bringing this up again, but if we're going after a 30+ guy, why not take the healthy one?

Thomas to visit with Saints, Cowboys
Thomas to visit with Saints, Cowboys NFL Network Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas is scheduled to visit with the New Orleans Saints before next week's NFL Combine, and then with the Dallas Cowboys after the Combine, the NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported Friday. |
Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Zack Thomas, Shaun Rogers, Ty Law, and Alge Crumpler...woo hoo! I'm on the, "get veteran guys in now and go for the SB ring" band wagon. We won't get many chances with what we have now so I say go for it. I'd rather break the bank on older palyers and win one than what we've been doing.

Re: Zach Thomas released by Dolphins!
Thomas is ok. He does not have a long injury report. He is definitly a leader on the field. That is something the defense does not have. If we sign him before the draft I would say the saints will be going defense heavy and signing more FA for the D. It would be the sign we need to put our doubts to rest.
