With the league’s offices closed for business over the weekend it will be this afternoon, at the earliest, before Crumpler is truly free.
Once he is, you can bet that several teams will be in contact with him. Already the Panthers, Saints and Colts are showing interest

I'll second that motion. Seriously with Eric Johnson being a FA(He only signed a 1 yr deal) and Billy Miller being the other option, I could see the Saints signing Crump as early as this week.(If he passes the physical)

I was disappointed with EJ's hands. Billy made more good plays than bad.

But give Algae one summer in Millsaps and he'll be back to fighting weight!! Could you imagine the blocking on his end for Reggie?? :-D

In addition to the Panthers and Bucs, the Tampa Tribune reports the Colts and Saints are showing interest in free agent Alge Crumpler.

The Colts would be a surprise landing spot, as they're expected to apply the franchise tag to Dallas Clark and have a strong backup in Ben Utecht. The Saints make sense with Eric Johnson also a free agent. All these teams must wait for Crumpler to clear the waiver wire before setting up visits.

He's a very good tightend... it shouldn't be surprising. I hope we can land him and stop having to worry about that position year to year... some stability would be nice.

as long as he dont demand too hefty of a salary, he hasnt produced much lately.

My question is this, is he healthy?
seems that for the last two years he's had problems staying healthy, if he's ready to go I'm all for the Saints to look at getting him signed...

Love to see the colts to go out and get him. Then let Ben Utecht walk. This is the guy I want.

Crumpler would be great if he were at the level he was a few years ago, but he's old (31), fat and dropped too many passes over the past two seasons for me to think he'd be able to contribute much more than he did in Atlanta. With you on that 100% Hagan, Utecht would explode in our system, I hope the Colts let him walk.

Okay, look a how many QB's he's been through in the past couple of years...

Vick - not a solid passer.
Leftwich - again
Harrington - again (unless their down 3 TD's)
Rookie - 'nuff said

Now tell me how he's supposed to more productive exactly?? And, 31 'aint exactly "old" and I'd gain weight and drop passes too. :phat:

And as for Utecht, I would say that your hope is just that....hope.

I hope that the Saints get Crumpler. (He has been a "Saint Killer" for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. Get him so he can kill some other teams)
