He might not be a great pass rusher, but he is always a factor in the run game. He does a very job of inside contain when teams run at his end. I've always been a big Grant supporter because I know that he brings a lot more to the table than just sacks. Looking at his statistics from last year would be a mistake because he was hurt almost the entire season, yet tried to play through the injuries. I know I probably sound like a bit of a homer, but I really believe that Grant is a very good player. He's also been a good team guy who has represented the organization well.
Grant is a very good run stopper. Hence the move to DT. I just think his skill set and size make him an ideal 3-gap player. As it stands today, we have 2 DEs under contract. Cooper is a RFA, though. I would not be surprised if we draft a DE at 10. I think both Smith and Grant need fires lit under their rears and a promising rookie could do that.
