I'm not crazy about his asking price, but I guess if that's what it takes to put us over the top, then hell, do it.

I'm curious missile, have you ever seen a "running QB"? Do you remember how Vick used to run all over us? I seem to remember Vince Young doing the same thing. Would that have happened with a better LB corps? I think not.

Also curious, how many cb's cover rb's, fb's, or te's? Dump passes, and screens KILLED us in how many games this season? Opportunities opened up down the field, because our safeties were having to come up to help our linebackers, which also caused many big plays.

The year we went to the championship game, all of these same things rang true.

It seems to me, all you are worried about is long passing plays. Last time I checked, there are running plays, screens, dumps. Alot of things that happen, where the CB has no play on the ball at all. It takes more than one player to fix a team, thus the term team. And I will stand by my belief, that WITHOUT great players up front, even the best CBs are going to get burned. Hmmmm, does anyone know where Denver was ranked, in pass defense last season? Champ Bailey plays for them right?

Pressure on the QB, either with the front four and the other seven playing a zone, or dogging with LB's or blitzing with DB's, the rest of the secondary will have to play man on man. Can your pressure beat the QB with the pass? Either way, without the pressure, even a mediocre QB looks great against this defense (and I say that defensively, because this D stinks rotten eggs).

Dude is also being courted by the Bucs, and they are 44 million under the cap. I would not get into a bidding war, he is already priced high enough.

i dont see why everyone is gettin worked up about samuel blowin up our cap... the contract is sure to be back loaded... if he gets 6 years n 60 million, 20 guaranteed. he will only count about 6 - 7 mill this year, still leavin us with around 14-15 million to work with.. thats still more then half the teams in the league

At the end of the 07 season, nfl.com power rankings had the Broncos at no. 22, and the Saints at 24. Both teams finished with 7-9 records. Only major difference was that the Broncos have Bailey on one side, and Dre Bly on the other. NINE pro bowl appearances between the two of them, and a hardcore reputation, for being two of the best "shutdown" cbs in the league. I read two articles, where the now FIRED defensive coordinator, said that the problem was, THAT THEY WERE NOT GETTING ENOUGH PRESSURE UP FRONT, for the CBs to be able to work effectively.

Now, will someone please explain to me, how that's possible, if lockdown CBs, are supposed to give the front seven "more time" to get to the QB?

well, if your CBs are playing it extremely well they can give the front 7 a little more time to get at the quarterback, but honestly you really want your front 7 to be on fire before you go investing in 100 million dollar CBs. luckily, we have the makings of a really good front 7.

charles grant and will smith are top DEs, regardless of how well they played last season. we should fix DT problems in the draft, hopefully. already looks like we're working on the LB problem and we're sure to draft atleast one.

one player will not make a difference but it is a start. At least the quick drop back passes will have more than one read. Thats gives the DL some extra time to get the pressure on the QB. It is a start. Upgrading LBs will also help. It frees up the DL from some of its run reads and allows them to pin back their ears a litttle bit more. The safty play needs to improve also. Way to many hits after 5 yards. It all goes hand in hand. Its a start.
