Trent Green to visit Saints

IMHO, I would rather have a multiple-concussed Trent Green than Jamie Martin anyways.

Friday roundup: Active Dolphins sign McCown, Wilford

I agree about that, but I wonder how much Green would cost to be a backup?

I think a couple of concussions may have humbled him enough to realize that his stock as an NFL QB has dropped. If we can get him cheap enough, take him.

I don't like the fact he has concussion issues, but he has been cleared to play. Could be a nice move. I doubt he would command a large contract at this point.

As said he has concussion issues but he would be a good backup to Brees.
He's really a good QB and could feel in nicely for Brees in the event Brees goes down...

I've always like Trent. I wouldn't mind if he was a backup to Drew.

Yeah. I wouldn't feel that the season would be over if Brees went down with Green backing him up.

would be a great pickup

Bring him in.

Re: Trent Green to visit Saints

i think he would suit our offense pretty well actually, quick release, accurate, not a strong arm but u dont need one since we tend to throw the short quick passes and he wouldnt be starting so wouldnt take a big beating.. that and jamie martin is just terrible.....

Let me say...

No No No.

Trent Green five years ago yes, now no. He's hesitant in the pocket and his decision skills are questionable at best. This is a guy we should pass on.

Would you really rather have Jamie Martin in there, over Green? Personally, I think Martin is awful. I mean really awful. So I'd be happier with Green in there -- by a long shot.

I would love it. We have a big lead into the 4th and Trent comes in to finish it off. sweet! Drew would add another 3 years to his career.

Green is a classy guy too. He has great vision. I wouldn't want him as a starter, but he is a very capable backup. This is a good move if the money is right.

We would have to make sure the defense is solid enough for Brees to get us this kind of lead to allow that to happen. Until then, Brees will still be attempting 40-50+ passes a game. I like the way you think, though.

would rather give a young guy a shot. Martin sucks, cut him, but Trent would literally Die after bouncing his head off the dome floor. Lets see what Palko can do as #2.

Re: Trent Green to visit Saints

i agree that Martin is a joke and Trent is a better QB than him. It would be a big risk however if Brees went down and he took over. He's one hit away from pisssing his pants and then what. We are stuck with our 3rd string.

I'm for Green as backup. I think he'd help be a good mentor to prepare Palko for the lock as the #2. I too would have more faith in a rattled Green than Jamie Martin at all.

Re: Trent Green to visit Saints

What you are really looking for is a guy who lpays when Drew Brees can't.
A guy like Billy Volek...
In 2004, as a replacement...
averaged 380 yards over 4 games...

We need a guy who can fling it all over the field...
That's the way we play

I agree with yiu BJSim. Trent Green is too old, and would probably end up getting a concussion in the first few plays he's in anyways. I feel like our season would be over if Brees goes down no matter who is backing him up. Lets draft a QB in the later rounds to develop as a backup, or hopfully Palko has shown some improvement.

Green would be better than Jamie Martin, but then again so would my little sister
