Re: Henderson Resign.
Rumor has it when they handed him the pen to sign his new contract, he dropped the pen. :)

This one I do not agree with. I can tell you guys don't either. Do the coaches really think this guy is going to improve? I don't get it.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
me for one, believes devery can win us some games....
does'nt matter if he's not perfect, who is? he can bring it to the house everytime, and i am a ok with him.... i'm glad he's still a saint.............smitty |
Re: Henderson Resign.
Deep threat, yeah, I know he can win some games. But he's just too inconsistent. Surely, there was a better option out there somewhere.

Re: Henderson Resign.
He's gotta start catching some balls. I don't think everyone is so excited about this one, but he's another great "player in the works" project for the Saints. We've specialized in "project players" since 1967.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
all of you are wrong....i rather have henderson who gets open a lot because of his speed and may drop 3/10 passes thrown to him but its better than some old washed out veteran who runs a 4.8 that wont ever get open ....devery has made some very big plays for us and with out him we have no vertical threat at all....yall need to stop being so critical of small mistakes and look at the good things he has done...im pretty positive they will be able to improve his catch percentages....
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
i think its a good deal.. i dont think he will be starting. im hoping for him to be our 3rd or 4th reciever b/c the dude can flat out fly and while he does drop some balls he is a huge deep threat that will open the middle up for colston if he can hang on to the ball
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
smitty, i got ya back....they are too stupid to remember all those big plays devery made in the past 2 years...
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
Well, apparently the coaches agree with you. But I'm not the coach, and I don't agree with either of you. I'd have gone after another speedster to replace this guy. I don't think he'll ever become consistent enough to deserve a roster spot (because he hasn't by now, and he's had long enough).
We burned a second rounder on this guy, didn't we??... PS - Smitty, is your dog still up for grabs? I'm beginning to suspect he could outrun Henderson, and yet only drop about the same about of balls, and instill about the same amount of fear in the opposing team. Would he play for a couple dog biscuits and a good scratching every now and then? That would definitely save us a mil+ in cap room.... |
Re: Henderson Resign.
I'm fine with him returning. He knows our offense, hopefully he can improve his consistency and focus. You can't teach speed and he has lots of that. Even if he's a 3rd or 4th receiver and only gets 15-20 catches a season if he can improve on his drops he's welcome.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
All I know is he drops more passes a year than he catches and they should be more worried about signing colston before he hits the market.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
I guess the true test is that the Saints only signed him for one year. Not a real vote of confidence!
I am reminded of...read below! |
Re: Henderson Resign.
hey, he signed a short contract for not a ton of money. Whats wrong with that, He can come in and compete for a job. He knows the system and we didn't break the bank to keep him. If he doesn't show improvement then cut him in camp.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
Wiley, you have made the most sence brother. I am not too upset with this. I'm glad he's still in the B&G, I am "Homering" this because he caught the "BlueGrass" catch. He will do it for us as well.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
sure devery is fast but whats the point of keeping him if he cant catch the ball? thats what a WR is supposed to do. Thats like saying we should have kept brooks around cuz he had a good arm, even though he wasnt consistently accurate.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
My main observation about Devery is he drops most of his passes on shorter routes, while in traffic. That is why so far he has never panned out as a number 2 guy. Devery does much better in open space, and is a tremendous deep threat. Once he was moved from that number 2 spot he did show remarkable improvement. At this point in his career, Devery is a solid choice playing the role of that deep threat number 3 type of receiver. Nice to see him back!

Re: Henderson Resign.
#3 is the slot man! that is traffic city. I have mixed emtions on the 2 million thing. 1.25 would have been better.
|
Re: Henderson Resign.
I agree with this move, just as long as he competes for a position on the roster. Let's face it, we drafted Meachum who is supposed to be a speed guy and still don't know if he's ready. Why not get a little insurance, for 1 year, at a bargain price?
