Gay visiting N.O. today...

Cornerback Jacques Reeves never made the trip to New Orleans today, as planned. He is still in Houston, where he is closing in on a contract with the Texans.

Cornerback Randall Gay, however, is in New Orleans, where he has been meeting with Saints officials throughout the day. He is scheduled to go on to Tampa Bay next, unless the Saints can convince him to do what Reeves did and sign a contract before he leaves town. Gay's current team, the New England Patriots, remain in the picture as well.

Defensive end Travis LaBoy is still planning to visit the Saints, but his trip has been pushed back to tomorrow morning. He made his first visit to Cleveland on Friday, so the Browns might be trying to keep him in town.

Cornerback Aaron Glenn left town after his visit with the Saints on Friday, but that doesn't rule out any possible contract discussions. No word yet on where the Saints stand with defensive end Bobby McCray, who also visited New Orleans on Friday.

Reportedly, the Saints did reach out to the New York Giants this week to inquire about tight end Jeremy Shockey's availability, but the Giants aren't interested in dealing him - at least not at a discounted price.

Several New York and national media outlets reported that the Saints were among a group of teams that asked about Shockey's availability. A report in the Westchester Journal News said the Saints offered a trade, but the Giants are insisting on a first-round pick or a second-rounder plus a starting player.

I must say, this topic headline kind of scared me at first, until I read it. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think the fact that we haven't heard anything for a while means they're working on a deal.

Starter, eh? I see you have a vacancy at safety. Gibril taking a fat contract in Oakland, very tragic... perhaps Bullocks and a 2nd rounder? No... no, no.... we insist.

I just listened to rick mueller talk about Gay I have a good feeling that we will sign him . Bobby Mcray also strikes me as aplayer that they want to sign as a situation pass rusher and 3 man rotation at DE . Antwan Odom is also scheduled for a visit . I got the impression that obtaining a DE is ahigher priority than most of us thought. Mueller gave me the impression that they would obtain a RB ,while he kept the company line on Duece . I think that the chance of duece returning is slim.

I sure hope the Saints can sign Gay. As for Deuce, I think he is going to be given a fair shot at making the team. I think it was March 1st that he was due his roster bonus, so unless we hear otherwise, he should be in training camp.

Correction, Deuce has a roster bonus due in two weeks. ($1 million).

Gay is better than David, at least the LSU stronghold won't blast him as much.

The fact that Gay has come and gone doesn't look good for us IMO.

Cheramie, where did you read Gay has "come and gone"? Maybe, Gay is still working on a contract with the Saints today? I have read nothing that indicates same, but have not seen anything that says he left town either.

Thank god, I'm still trying to find where I read that at though, that crap bothers me. Getting older starting to see things. LOL
