Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

Based on this, I'd trade down which won't be an option. I think Payton will take Mendenhall RB Illinois.

Don't agree? Looks at my avatar. It says it all!!!!!!!!!

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

I hear that we are targeting Balmer with the first pick, and the Jags really like him as well....maybe the two teams talk on draft day

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

The only corner I want is Cromartie.. After that they are several options at cb so no way in hell do I want the Saints to draft a corner first round unless its him.. Most def' get Rivers after him

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

I sure hope we do land McKelvin.

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

I like cromartie, but I don't see us getting him. I see the fo trying to trade down to gain more picks. I think we will get a corner on draft day, but it won't be the one most people on this board are hoping. I see us packaging a few picks and picking up shepard from the eagles on draft day, Just my prediction. I know its still a long ways away, and lots can happen, but thats just my gut feeling.

yeah the draft is still an eternity away!

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

We essentially have the best pick position in the draft. So many options that the really best one is to trade down, still get someone that is targeted and get extra picks.

I do not want a CB in the first round. Depending on how the first 5 picks go move up or TRADE BACK.

What if the dirty birds & chiefs whif on Ryan. If he's at 10 do you take him over BPA on defense? Just musing..

Absolutely not. You entertain all trade scenarios at that point.

I just hope we don't take Balmer

No Way, you dont take a Qb in first rd to be a backup for at least another 4 or 5 years.

Please draft Keith Rivers LB If he still there. CB Tracy Porter 2nd. Just my two cents

actually brees only has 3 years left on his deal and by then he will be 32.. not sayin he will drop off but we are going to have to start looking for a replacement before then

not really...we're going to extend his contract by then. he'll be with us as long as he wants, trust me.

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

If he is there believe me other teams will be calling the bills to move up, IE bears. They would never think we would take him. So you take him and start answering the phones.

True, but I am not looking at 2 or 3 years from now. I'm looking to win a Superbowl NOW, while Brees is still with us. I think he's our best chance - the best chance we've ever had, and likely to be the best chance we WILL have in the next decade or so.

Fix the D now, don't worry too much about 4 years from now, because our window won't last.

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

Personally, I think Joey Harrington would be a better backup than either Martin or Trent Green. Mickey...get on the phone and make an inquiry!

Green is 37 with 14 seasons in the NFL and Harrington is 29 with 6 seasons in the NFL.

Green 6'3 at 217, career; 2228 completions, 3668 attemps, 60.7%, 27,950 yds.

Harrington is 6'4 at 222, career; 1424 completions, 2538 attempts, 56.1%, 14,693 yds.

see thats where i disagree, we have a real young team, most of our star players are young and are still learning the game.. our oline is pretty young except for a few guys and all of our WRs n RBs are young except for patton n deuce n stecker

we could be really good for 6-7 straight years

But that doesn't count the most important guy on the entire team - Brees. 6 or 7 years? Brees is either going to get hurt, or he's going to slow down well before 7 years come around. And though I don't know who his replacement will be, I'll bet you 100 to 1 whoever it is will not be in the same ballpark as Brees.

I really think - when Brees goes under, our window of opportunity goes with him. So make it count. NOW.

Anthony Morelli, Penn St., 6035, 231, 5.00
Alex Brink, Washington St., 6023, 211, 5.05

Here are two, as of now, UDFA in the draft that could be good projects

I say we should of traded for deangelo hall for our second round pick cause he's better then any 2nd round corner in the draft and take mendanhall with our #10 pick with that 1-2 punch with an occational pierre thomas we'd have the top rb crew in the league reggie could go back to just being all over the field . we should trade duece before the wheels fall off .

Do you think the Falcons woul trade him within the division???
I don't think they would.

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

Did anybody else notice how high Kiper has Justin King going in this mock? He's got him going at #27 to the Chargers. Does anybody think he'll really go that high? I'm a big Penn State fan so I've seen alot of this kid and he can play. I was hoping he would slip under the radar and we could pick him up later on but if Kiper has him going in the first round then I guess the secret's out. Mel predicts where some players will go based on how much scouts are buzzing about them. There should be some buzz about this guy due to his workout numbers.

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

Trade down with MINN. Pick up a 2nd and a 4th IMHO this won't happen because RYAN won't get past the Ravens at #8

pakowitz 03-17-2008 07:54 PM

Re: Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft!

king has had some excellent workouts and i expect him to go somewhere between late first, mid second round...
