Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Okay....as much as I dislike the guy, he's a top 5 CB in the league. You can get him for half the money Asante Samuel got & he's a man to man corner. Hello....this is what we play! We don't have to gamble in the draft or pick up someone's nickel corner from a zone defense in hopes that he can start. You know you'll have a bonafide CB to blanket WR's. I really don't see why we haven't pursued this guy. He's a perfect fit for our defense & as for as top flight corners are concerned....he's relatively a bargain.
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
he is super cheap and said he wouldn't change his salary if they traded him. he'd be 4.2 million for one year.. would be a great quick fix for the defense.. and you don't have to re-sign him if it doesn't work out.. i'm sure the saints have a few tricks up their sleeves come draft day tho..
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
also i understand 4.2 is not cheap.. but i am relating as opposed to other top corners in the nfl who are making around 8-10 million a season..

To me, this is a no brainer. This is about the same yearly average Jason David & Randall Gay will be making. Hmmm.....let's see....I'd take DeAngelo Hall covering a guy by himself over Gay & David doubling up on him any day of the week. To think, we're going to pay a nickel corner (Gay) & a BUM (David) that kind of money.....but we won't pay a perrenial Pro Bowl CB that kind of money. Does that not baffle you guys? |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
David was just a terrible deal. I don't even know why the Saints went after him when he was a restricted free agent.. I think Gay over the longrun will be a solid deal.. Who knows.. there's always Lito Sheppard as well.. I'm still big on DRC though for the future..
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
I totally agree. I cannot think of a single reason that the Saints would not be considering giving D. Hall a call right now.
He would put this CB unit over the top without breaking the bank, and we could draft DT, S, and even some offense on draft day. |

Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Hall feels betrayed by the falcons in several ways..
Hall, who is owed $4.2 million next season, said his desire to leave the Falcons is not about money. He did want to have his contract extended, but he said that he recently told the Falcons that he would play out his final year if the team promised not to apply the franchise tag following the season. That tag would limit Hall's ability to negotiate with other teams should he become a free agent. Hall said the team declined. He said that any team interested in acquiring him would not have to re-do his contract before a trade is consummated. "I don't want to stay there," said Hall,. "I would go anywhere who wants me. That's the thing. It's hard to play for or be part of an organization that doesn't want you. I just want to go somewhere where I'm wanted." |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
This really, REALLY should be a no brainer move for the Front Office. I truely hope this deal is going to get done.
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Tell yall what, my buddy is the equipment manager for the saints. Ill give him a call and tell him to put a bug in his ear. I know he sees Payton everyday so maybe he can relay the message to him then to loomASS :)

Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
If hall goes it will be on draft day to move up the board. I still think Atlanta at 3 is the best bet right now to move up to 1
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
I have one question....Why is nobody else trying to scoop him up?
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Price of resigning is my guess.
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
I'd give a 2nd at most if and only if we can work out a 3 year deal.
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
at what price? 8 million a year?
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Quote:
I don't know what it would cost per year for multiple years, but his 1st year would only cost $4.25 million. We do know that much. We're paying Jason David & Randall Gay that much. If D. Hall wants double that....he's worth it!!!! He's three times as good as either of those bums!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!

Hall said he would play out his contract if they said they would not franchise him, the team said sorry, we will do what we want. Hall is just plain and simply a schmuck. He spits, runs his mouth, get consecutive unsportsmanlike penalties called on himself, and thinks he is a top 5 cornerback in the league. He is not a top 5, he is short, and a punk. Let's throw away a draft pick for a guy for one years worth of play. You think giving away a 1st or second(best case scenario) to gamble on a player you may have only one year is a good deal? You think even if he is well behaved next year, and we want to resign him, that he will not expect a monster contract next year? Come one stop being so gullable. While he is better than anything we have healthy(sorry I like MM more than Hall) it is a high price to pay for a player for only one year and you really think he is going to become a good character guy after having not been one for so long? Give up a second round pick for a guy we may have only one year? No thanks. |

1st of all....DeAngelo Hall IS a top 5 CB in the league.....period. Can you name 5 better? HELL NO!!!! Nobody can and still maintain their integrity. Would I give up the #10 overall pick for him? Sure....but Atlanta would have to give up something too....maybe we give our 1st & 3rd for D. Hall & their 3rd. Anyway....yes, the guy talks smack. What star NFL player doesn't? I never said I liked him as a person. He does, however, back it up on the field every Sunday. He doesn't take plays off & he blankets BIG receivers like Terrell Owens, etc... even with his "shortness"....notice the sarcasm. Say what you will, but I think he's a better CB than Asante Samuel for the simple fact that Samuel had a better supporting crew & played zone. Hall makes Pro Bowls by playing man to man for a sub-par Falcons defense. Read between the lines man. |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Here's an article from FoxSports:
New Orleans Saints, DeAngelo Hall,Asante Samuel and what to do in the draft • Southern Hospitality - FOX Sports Blogs "DeAngelo Hall CB for the Atlanta Falcons wants to move to a new home. Well Mr. Hall how does New Orleans sound to you? It's a short trip and the best part is you will have an opportunity twice a season to stick it to the team you feel stabbed you in the back. The New Orleans Saints are expected to choose a CB with the 10th overall pick in this Aprils draft. All signs show that they are eyeing South Florida CB Mike Jenkins. With Asante Samuels looking for something around 10 mill. this season, it's said the the Patriots are also eyeing Jenkins as well. Other Mock Drafts have the Saints who are in desperate need of a good cover corner also giving much thought on Troy's Leodis McKelvin. My opinion though is at 24, DeAngelo Hall is one of the top 5 CB's in the league. Giving up a first round pick and possibly a pick in the latter rounds might be a wise decision. Atleast you know what you are getting from Hall. There is always the possibility that a draftee will be a bust and we all know the Saints have certainly had their share of those. New Orleans needs defensive help in a bad way. Free agent pick up from last season Jason David just isn't getting it done. That's not the only help the Saints need though. They could really use a big time MLB and after persuing Zach Thomas who decided to play close to home in Dallas, this makes the draft and free agency even more interesting for the fans. You see there is this LB from USC named Keith Rivers who is versatile and can play both MLB and outside. If New Orleans doesn't make a move for Hall then I think this might be a smarter draft pick than any CB that could be available to them. That is if he is still there for them to choose. Also this could allow the Saints to maybe pick a CB in the second round, someone like LSU's Chevis Jackson. He has great size and strength for a CB and plays pretty smart. Back to Asante Samuels if the Patriots do not resign him and let's say they pull of a trade for Hall, which would be good for them because he is as good if not better for less money. This would also allow the New Orleans Saints to persue Samuels whom they thought of just a year ago. The next few weeks will be interesting to say the least. With the combine underway in Indy and the draft a little more than a month away. Lots of speculating will be going on. Things will start to clear up though as the weeks move on. I for one am anxious and ready for some football." |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Here is what stat guru KC Joyner (The Football Scientist; he watches every pass play of every game!)said about him before this season:
"Overrated Cornerbacks: DeAngelo Hall This is the second consecutive season Hall makes this list. He receives this honor because he once again made the Pro Bowl, despite posting simply abysmal metrics. His 9.2 YPA (yards given up per pass attempt thrown his way) ranked 76th among cornerbacks. Hall's 47.1 success percentage (incompletions on passes thrown his way) was solid (31st in the league), but his 17.9 missed pass percentage (Inaccurate, due to QB, or dropped passes, due to WR, that cause an incompletion. Missed passes are used to measure how lucky a cornerback was in coverage.) was one of the highest in the league. That means a large percentage of Hall's success was due to luck. His supporters would point out that many of the big plays he allowed were due in part to not getting good help from the Falcons' safeties. That might be the case, but Hall's overall YPA was still only .8 yards better than Jason Webster's figure (his teammate). Furthermore, Charles Woodson had just as little help from the Packers' mediocre safeties and still put up great metrics." |

I hate DeAngelo Hall. Hate him. I don't like dirty players, and he's the definition of dirty player. Not to mention an @$$hole
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
This is the way I look at it... No I don't like Hall, but yes im all for going out and getting him. If we were to land this guy it would solidify our CB's with MM making huge strides. We would have Gay and David for Dime and Nickel formations, now I know David can't cover a #1 or #2 receiver but let's put him up against a #3 or 4 and see what happens. Also if we were to get Hall we would not need to draft a CB with our first round pick, and picking up Morgan makes our LB's that much better. We could take a DT with our first pick whether it be dorsy or ellis if they slip that far. With Charles, Will, Bryan, and either dorsy or ellis we would compete for the top D line in the league. And if all that were to happen it would constitute one of the BEST defenses in the league!

Nobody can doubt Hall's ability, I would just feel like we sold our souls or something like that to get him. Wouldn't seem right to me.
I'd put Champ, Asante Samuel, Clements, Al Harris, and Osomugha in front of Hall for sure. |

Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
trust me, it wouldn't be a problem. if we tried to pick him up I know the front office guys like Loomis would tell him 'hey man, it's not gonna look good if you don't embrace the city and become a good guy'. if he comes to N.O. he'll have to do alot charity work down here to build back up his image, show that hes a good guy.

No....it comes from playing football & knowing the benefits of systems at certain positions. Samuels benefitted from a 3-4 zone defense. The likes of which had one hell of a front seven & a damn good safety. Watch his stats fall off next year. Pac-Man showed signs, but how much did we get to see? Approximately 1 year of Pro Bowl quality play. Tillman & Asomugha are in my top 10, but not top 5. Hall is the real deal....a loud mouth, but still the real deal. Besides that....I'll go on to say that Deion Sanders talked more smack than any other player on the field when he played, but.....I can say that he also backed it up on the field. Hall is of the same mold. I'm not saying he's "Prime Time", but most good CB's talk s**t. |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Sounds good to me. Maybe gonna be a draft day deal. Hall for our 1st round pick. Would rather spend it on a sure thing than a maybe. Looks like it could happen. Why not do it now though? Don't think Lito is an option however. Philli gonna trade him for Fitzgerald plus a pick.
|
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
Now that we are mentioning cbs that we'd rather have over Hall...I'll add 2 more to the list....Cromartie and Mathis....Now if you want to go by stats, Samuel had the most ints over the last 2 years than any other cornerback. How can you not put him in the top 5? If you think Hall deserves to be in the top fine, that's fine...It's your opinion and you are definately entitled to it. But to give up a high draft pick for 1 year of service and a demand of a big contract for a player that has sportsmanship issues, no thanks.

OK, now I agree that I do not think samuels is that great. He played in a zone style defense, however the Eagles rarely make personnel mistakes, and the Patriots play some man to man coverages. However there are plenty of CB's I would rather have. 1. Champ Bailey 2. Marcus Trufant 3. Charles Woodson 4. Al Harris 5. Mike McKenzie 6. Antonio Cromartie 7. Terence Newman 8. Nate Clements 9. Walt Harris 10. Nnamdi Asomugha 11. Charles Tillman 12. Asante Samuels While I expect all really good CB's to talk smack, I do not expect them to also lose a game single handedly for a team, as Hall as done on two separate occasions with multiple personal foul calls on one drive. |
Re: Dear Mickey Loomis.....Go Get DeAngelo Hall!!!!!!
I am nor in favor or against anything the Saints choose to do..
But whoever said the Falcons wouldn't trade with the Saints.. I can see how they would. The would have 2 picks in the top 10.. to rebuild their franchise with.. of course they would.. They aren't going to have Hall next season any ways.. They probably wish we would do this trade.. The chance for them to draft Ellis and McFadden.. or they could get Matt Ryan and Ellis.. etc.. shoot yeah they would lol. They have to look long term.. we are much more closer to a championship if the defense improves. |
