We may know after Saturday when Deuce's bonus is due if thats a direction we may go, I think we need to keep 26 around at least one more year. I like Forte a lot though.

I think that Forte would be a great pickup . There are alot of RBs in this draft. There will be talent available beyond the 4th rd. Ray Rice is a guy that i like alot also. IMHO the Saints will pick a RB in this draft

i'm really liking the mock drafts where we pick 4 defensive players with our first four picks although i just don't see it happening...if deuce is done and payton doesn't feel he can get the job done then i definitely see us picking up a RB in this draft
On the other hand if Payton thinks deuce has got another year in him then i am quite content with our current RB lineup
let's get PT in the mix!!! early and often

Ray Rice & Kevin Smith are both great backs that can be had in later rounds. I wouldn't mind drafting either one of these guys.

i like rashard choice. he has great vision. but he'll go way too early.. around rounds 3-4..

i agree i like signing an undrafted free agent like pierre thomas.. if need be..

Forte is going with Rice at the bottom of the second or top of the third. Smith should be gone by the bottom of the third or the top of the fourth. Any one of the three would make a nice back up to Duce.

Unless you draft a back to come in and replace Deuce, I really don't see us drafting a RB. Last year we has a log jam at RB and we cut a very good player. PT and AS will make the team, so Deuce is the odd man out.

Really have my doubts that McAllister can really come back. You hear so many other athlete's explaining what actually happens to their flexibilty and strenght after surgeries on both Knees even if they have the heart. I think PT is going to shine this year if given the Reps. We still need a RB for insurance that has breakaway speed and toughness to match. Forte would be the man for the future. If not Him they are going to pick up another RB they may have tagged already. When McA whet down last year the writting was on the wall already. You could sense their desperation and they could not commit to one back and had the RB by comittee thing going on that to me was ineffective and their reacord reflected their lack of confidence

I feel that you can never have too many running backs. But, I am not sure the Saints need to draft one. There are only five roster spots for them, and at least four are spoken for. (Bush, Stecker, Thomas, and Karney). Throw in Deuce and there is your five. The Saints also have Branch, Barclay, and Dudley hanging around for injury insurance. I would say no to drafting another back and take my chances with the guys already on the roster, and possibly bring in a couple free agents camp bodies who could possibly crack the practice squad roster.

If Deuce does come back he's almost guarenteed to miss at least half the season.

Only one problem, other than Bush and possibly pierre Thomas (still both largely unproven) we have no legitimate starting running back. Branch, barclay and dudley don't exactly send shivers down anyone's spine. And Deuce, well, after two knee injuries you are looking at 400-500 yds. tops this year. We have a lot of bodies, just no bellcows.
