DE Kalimba Edwards released by the Lions
 

DE Kalimba Edwards (6-6, 265) spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the Lions. During his career, the veteran defensive end has amassed 190 tackles (115 solo), 26.0 sacks (158.5 yards), eight pass defenses, eight fumble recoveries and eight forced fumbles in 87 career games (22 starts). Edwards played in eight games (six starts) in 2007 while totaling 25 tackles (14 solo), 3.0 sacks (23 yards), one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. In 2002, he was the first Lion to lead the team in sacks (6.5) as a rookie since Tracy Scroggins (7.5) in 1992. Edwards was selected by the Lions in the second round (35th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft out of South Carolina.

We all are jumping all over KJ right now but Edwards maybe the better pick up. I think if the price is right and the knee is ok, we might want to add him to the DE rotation.

According to the News Herald, DL Kalimba Edwards, a player the Browns pursued during free agency in 2006 but who decided to return to the Lions, could be on the Browns' radar screen again after being released by Detroit on Thursday. The Lions were disappointed with the way Edwards played in 2007. He played in eight games with six starts and was on the inactive list often in the last half of the season. Edwards, a defensive end in Detroit, posted three sacks and 18 tackles last season. In 2006, he played in all 16 games with 10 starts and had three sacks to go with 38 tackles. If the Browns do renew interest in Edwards, it would be to play him as a left outside linebacker. They have been trying to improve that position since free agency began.

Doubt we will have much interest, but the real question is why would he want to come here.
