FORGOTTEN MAN: WR Carlton Brewster
Carlton Brewster (born February 12, 1983 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is an American football wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Ferris State.
Brewster has also been a member of the Green Bay Packers, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos in his career. http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/33/334848m.jpg Ht: 5-11 Wt: 214 Position: WR Date of Birth: 02/12/1983 Birthplace: Grand Rapids, MI Experience: R High School: Creston HS (Grand Rapids, MI) College: Ferris State Except for some success in pre-season camps and poise in interviews, wide out Carlton Brewster is a nobody. Signed by the New Orleans Saints of out free agency in 2008, Carlton Brewster is definitely someone to talk about. Brewster, being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2006 by the Cleveland Browns, has no trace of any progress in the National Football League of any kind. I have spent almost an hour and a half researching statistics and the story behind Mr. Brewster, and I have not been able to find any receptions, yardage, or a single touchdown. The personal story of Carlton Brewster is short but interesting. He was born on February 12, 1983 in Grand Rapids, Missouri. Brewster attended Creston High School in his hometown and later moved onto Ferris State University where he played football. So why am I so interested in this no name receiver? Maybe because the New Orleans Saints have not been able to acquire a main receiver to catch besides Marques Colston, the Saints premiere wideout. David Patten is a crafty veteran who put up nice numbers in 2007, but time will only tell how much longer Patten will be able to hang with the big boys. The Saints took a big leap drafting Tennessee wideout Robert Meachem in the first round of the 2007 draft. Meachem did not touch the field once in a regular season game in 2007 due to injuries. So, being so popular for making a big difference in preseason camps and practice squads for the past two years on many different teams including the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, and San Diego Chargers, would make Brewster a high contender to make a run for a starting job in the New Orleans rotation. The 2008 season is almost upon us and i encourage any and all Saints fans to keep a watchful eye out for this Carlton Brewster mystery pass catcher. Who is Carlton Brewster? | Bleacher Report |

Re: FORGOTTEN MAN: WR Carlton Brewster
Foreverfan,
Do you actually ever talk about defense? Mendenhall, receivers, this guy above (whoever he is). You'd think that we have the Baltimore Raven or SF 49ner offense or something. The Saints receiver corps that you keep trashing was #1 in attempts and completions, Top 3 in yards, top 10 in TDs. And that's with the team being near the top of the league in on target drops. There's nothing that the Saints organization has done in the offseason so far to indicate that Payton is in fact the offensive Nazi that you have in your avatar. Each and every move so far has been shoring up the defense. The Saints already have a top receiver prospect on staff. They already have 3 pretty reliable guys behind Colston. And frankly Reggie really is a slot receiver more than anything else. Don't even get me started on the 83 TEs that we have on staff. What additional defensive adjustments do we need to make so that the Saints defense can get off the field on third down? How can we improve the pass rush? How can we improve the safety play? How can we get Jason David off the field because he's worse than having no player on the receiver at all? Can the great cat guru answer these questions please? Because those are the questions that will make the difference between going deep in the playoffs in 2008 and sitting home again wondering who'll line up opposite Colston. SFIAH |

Dear In Hell Dude....
I had to LOL at your post. You really got me good. Payton has years of being an offensive Nazi and one offseason does little to despell it. I love him for it. SFIAH, talking defense has been beaten to death. I know we need defense, but too may of you may not realize that staying status quo on offense could be a big problem too. Thanks for the reference to the "Great Cat Guru" and noticing. But notice that it's qualified by saying it "Self-Professed". No one else believes that crap, huh? LOL If you want me to address defense, I can sum it up quickly. We stink. We need players. Jason David is a bumb. Hollis Thomas is report over 350. Charles Grant is overrated. I don't DRC will get on the field this year if we draft him. Don't think Dorsey or Ellis falls to us or anyone will trade with us down. If we want one, either need to trade up before Cinny. 10 may be to high to pick a LB. We made some nice offseason moves but still have major weaknesses. A WORD ABOUT FORGOTTEN PLAYERS I'm just doing bios on players on the Saints roster that are unknown camp bodies who may break through into the rotation. I started with DT Harris Obrien who may get into the rotation. Last week I did local talent WR Skyler Green. Last year did you know who Pierre Thomas was before the 3rd preseason game? One of the guys (forgotten men) will play great this preseason, and if you know all about them, you can look like a GURU too. LOL I really don't take myself/cat guru stuff too seriously. |
Re: FORGOTTEN MAN: WR Carlton Brewster
I wasnt trying to get on you with my post, I just really didnt even realize the guy was affiliated with the Saints at all. As far as staying put on offense I agree with you, if we stay put everyone is gonna catch up with us. I really believe Mech will be productive this year and that Devery will have me pissed off by the end of the 3rd game.

Hey I will take a cheap street FA find as a starter any day. They are very cap friendly.
